8v batteries are half way popular around here, but if that guy was as smart as he tries to be, he would know to step the voltage down to the distributor/coil.

What bothers me is, by showing that vid, that idiot has other idio.. eeeeer folks looking up to him!!

How do those pines smell when milling? White pine up smells great when sawing but stains quick if not sticker-ed and popple people smells the worst I hate milling that wood.

Actually it pretty much smells like Pine-Sol.

I have a couple big poplar trees here but I've not milled any of it yet.

This hillbilly doesn't like sweet gum wood for some reason, says its the worst wood ever, wonder why he's saying that..... Anyway @10:25 he has point problems again and says the worst thing that can be done to old tractors is change them from 6 to 12 volt system, just get a 8 volt battery which I never heard of. I guess 12 volts is only needed to start the tractor but it only needs 6 to run, of course points has always been an issue on old motors anyways, I use to have a point file 40 years ago probably they dont make them anymore....

I hardly ever watch homestead videos but this hillbilly makes it interesting to me, he's not homesteading in a mansion somewhere around Lake Michigan, he getting by on nickles and dimes and bicycle transportation, more like hobo homesteading.

I agree he's pretty interesting to watch. Did you watch that one where he changes out the pump in his tractor? I'm thinking f he ever did maintenance , like change fluids, he might not have to go through all that.

I got a buttload of sweetgum here, someday I'll try some for something.

No, I watched bout half dozen so far, I'll have see if can find it, think I'll look now for it.

I get conflicting views on youtube sawyers, some it's the pretest wood they ever sawed some say its not very good, so when you saw some let me know what you think.

Years ago I had some, and built a few things in my cabinet shop out of it, they came out pretty nice.

I wouldn't mind getting some more...

Is the wood hard to nail and or split easy, how heavy is it? I dont think theres anything heavier then oak.

Is that what the blueprint calls for, is this OSHA approved... Just so I can give my professional opinion, how far apart are the floor joist?

I never nailed any, (I don't nail my fine woodworking together! lol) but it's a soft wood and fairly light in weight...

I agree with some of your assessment. I watched most of the video. I agree that I could not believe that this guy had this tractor and never changed the fluid especially when you see how bad it looked! You would think he would want to split the whole tractor and clean the whole rear end! However on the other hand he took the thing apart like he had done it many times before. Maybe he had owned many Ford 8N's before. The same with pulling the distributor off with the points. To me he has experience with the tractor and I don't think he would have gotten all his experience just from watching youtube videos.
