Sounds like while there is more then one way to skin a cat, there is only ONE RIGHT way....your way.
At least MY WAY would have got the job done, without abusing the tractor.

That sounds like everyone's RIGHT WAY to me.

The size of the tractor has a lot to do with it, also. The video was too blurred to see what he was using. I did think that TSC box blade looked rather on in an EA video though... and wonder if the customer knew how they were "testing his new grapple."

According to the comment from Everything Attachments, the customer bought one and blew out the cylinder, so he went to dealer and they beat the snot out of one while he watched, to show it's durable, then replaced his cylinder which he promptly blew out again. Turns out his hydraulics were plumbed incorrectly from the tractor dealer with no relief valve. I understand all of you take care of your equipment because you bought it and want it available when you need it. The point of the video was not about how "the majority of the owners would use the equipment", it was about "how would the select few who don't care or are renting the equipment use it". As stated in that comment, Its cheaper for them to buy 1 tractor, attach their implement to it, find the flaws in said attachment by abusing it, and then redesign, than it is to fix ALL the attachments that went out to customers with flaws. I am in no way affiliated with Everything Attachments, nor did I purchase or given any of their equipment. I am just commenting on a video I saw on YouTube like anybody else. Would I drive any of my machines like that, no way José!! Do I understand why he was doing that with the machine? Yes, he was proving that the grapple's strength is well beyond the loader's and a dummy operator's destructive capabilities.

Really?? In the first part, I would have (at just above idle, in my gear drive tractor) pushed my pallet forks right under that rotted stump, grappled it, and out of the ground it would have come!

NO screaming/squealing/whining, pizzing around, like I saw with that dedicated grapple that couldn't even do the job.

AND it goes on from there.....as I NOTHING that, that grapple could do, better than pallet forks with a matching grapple!

SR

Well I completely disagree, sorry. I have both and they both have their place, bucket too! Grabbing at that stump from the top as a waste of time and effort.. again operator error in my opinion, I would have used a bucket. And grabbing all that debris from around and between those trees... a grapple is a perfect tool, forks would not do near as good of a job... But if all you have is forks with a thumb , well then do what you can I guess.

 I was just wondering how big it was compared to that of a certain TBN member who owns the Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang of the tractor world... able to do everthing with ease and probably able to leap tall buildings with a single bound.

That explains why on the lead-in they said that they were testing it out before turning it over to him, which is what I couldn't understand. I can see putting it through extreme paces just to make sure it won't break under normal use... but not a unit which was already bought and paid for. Some of the things they were using it for were more suited to a 20 ton excavator.

Then again some of the things I did with my first tractor were rather harsh; it's a wonder I didn't break it in two.

All I saw in that video was, a screaming whining tractor getting abused, showing how much more difficult it is to get things done with a dedicated grapple, that pallet forks with a matching grapple would do MUCH easier, and NOT be nearly as hard on the tractor, getting it done!

SR

How good does the pallet forks pull vines? He didn’t get the rotten stump up and I really doubt you would’ve using a FEL either.

Pallet forks don't always work great for pulling vines UNLESS you have the grapple to grab them, and that's what I said worked just as good as a dedicated grapple.

As for popping that ROTTEN stump out, he made it move with the grapple, so with pallet forks pushed together, it's really easy to push them under, GRAPPLE the stump, and pull/work/break it out.

Of course you doubt it, you've never done it and I've done it plenty so I don't doubt it at all. SO, you don't know what you are talking about. lol

I use my dozer to pop the stumps out and my grapple to pick it up and move it to the burn pile or hole.
My son uses his forks.
You use what you got and is best for you.
