I guess I do it all wrong because I just don't see much there to start a fire with :confused3: But I have no problem with the way you get kindling.

My turn....First picture has a antique gas can, probably 50 years old. Second picture is showing two wood splitters, one is for the big wood and the other one is in case the big wood gets stuck on big splitter and the black tape is due to frustration taken over or bad aim......

Even just a couple pails under it works great.

There's NO WAY I'd spend any of my time making small splits, just to start fires when they are already made!

Best fire starter I get off the BSM, is to get a couple pails of sawdust. I put some in a plastic bag from the store, put a little used oil in it and put it in the stove with wood on top...

A match does the rest and I don't even have to stand there and baby sit it.

You seem to generate a whole lot more of the little scraps if you use a 4 way wedge. When I'm using the single wedge, my work area looks a lot like yours. When I'm using the four-way wedge, the area is carpeted with scraps.

Your problem is your wood is way to nice. If you burned the crap I do, you'd have lots of kindling. :laughing:
