That Case had 4 cylinders had to be more 17hp, my riding lawnmower is 2 cylinder Briggs and thats 21hp.

The Nebraska tests for the Case VA series in 1949 show 17.92 hp on the belt with "tractor fuel" and 21.33 hp with gasoline. They had bigger horses back then.

Since it was only mid 70s today I decided to do some more road work further down in. Things for the most part went good for hard rocky diggings, I was just gonna do a few more bucket loads and the idiot light came on just as I was scooping up the dirt, thought I heard something, so I went and emptied the bucket in the road.

I was hoping I could empty it and back around and get out before the motor got hot but yup the temp gauge still works, got about 100ft on level ground and shut it off. I lifted hood expecting a broken belt then I see a twig in there by the belt. I was pushing over lots of brush to get to the dirt so that twig must of snuck up in there and hit the belt and knock it off. It's a fairly easy fix if had 12mm wrench, had every size but. This is when technology is great not really in the mood for more exercise, made a call and had my son bring sockets down in.

Kind of a good thing the belt fell off, while waiting I looking around and see my winch driveshaft laying on the ground still attached by safety chain, so for the past half hour or so I been dragging that in the dirt. Near as I can tell when backing over all them bushes and or while I was dragging winch on ground to smooth out dirt a stick must of hit that just right. That driveshaft only come off one other time going over brush so I guess it can happen.

So once the belt was back on I headed out, the temp gauge quickly went down so it has a good cooing system. While I was doing this bucket work I could see dust just rolling up around the motor, I better vac out the air filter, think the filter has little over 200 hr, might be due for a change.

Gee I though it would be at least 28hp on 4 cylinders, might as well of had the 2 cylinder JD put put motor in it, I think that had 25hp. Bigger horses, hahahah:laughing:

Now this is my idea of a tractor!!!!!!!!!!!! The Farmall H, now just make it 4wheel drive, go slower and put a FEL on and we got a deal, although I bet it would go great with half tracks and pony wheels on it ......

You can have all of those you want. Anything without a loader is useless to me.

A friend of mine has a farmall h I thought he said it was. I never saw it. I remember an old farmer thatç—´ now gone 20 years had a farmall “a”¿ I think it was. I remember him coming up the driveway which was a decent hill, with a load of wood. If my memory serves me right it was wood cut 4 feet long, stacked about 4 feet high and about 8 feet long. I just remember it was near a cord of wood. Can稚 remember if it was birch or spruce and fir. But when they went to move the tractor again when stopped the front end would rise and it wouldn稚 move. Now that was 30 years ago so I forget what happened. But I still remember that poor old é„* looking tired with not an ounce of paint left on it trying to pull that load.

Yea I left that hydro part out of the first part. Even if it had a loader that dry clutch with only a few gears to make matters worse would still be completely useless for me.

Do you want to bring your gear tractor over and see how good you can back fill a garage? I see a lot of shoveling or laying block back in your future. I used an excavator on this one because it was the best option I had but a geared tractor would be about the worst. After you get done doing that we can dump some septic rock. You’ve already failed and so did my backhoe because it’s stuck but the tracked skid kept on working. Even if the conditions were dry dumping the gravel to avoid a lot of shoveling is pretty precise work. IMG_8970.JPGIMG_8971.JPG

Well I have to agree with that one to even though I get a cringe doing it, hydro and FEL work is best combination. Now lets get back to reality before the stars fall out of the sky, according to that scientific tractor test we all know which one gets the best traction dont we ummmmmm, there now everything is back to normal and I can go shopping again!!!
