... This must have been similar to the hysteria during the Salem Witch Trials. With the Internet, can you imagine how that would have spread? Now, if we could only bring back McCarthyism (sp?).

Salem witch psychedelia was limited to those who ate the tainted rye.

Reaction to it, like McCarthyism was and would be just fear of the unknown by those unaffected.

Fear Mongering is always the best way to make a point. Regardless of the validity of the point.

Second, that's fine if you want to die for what you believe in. Be my guest. The problem is when your actions endanger OTHERS. That is the issue at hand here.

I'll go back to a favorite Seinfeld quote I posted early on in this discussion. "We're living in a society, here!" The challenge is that the irresponsible actions of a few have far reaching impacts on everyone. Recognizing this, and realizing that the overall success of society as a whole is in the best interest of everyone, can help individuals make responsible decisions. Problems arise when everyone pursues their own self-interest based on their own opinions/set of ideals.

The constant theme is keeping people "SAFE" and all the criteria surrrounding that. But hardly a finger lifted as Violent Thugs (Sorry I meant Peacefull Protesters) destroy yet more property and lives. Nightly! Like someone telling you not to eat a greasy hamburger because it's bad for you but offering you cyanide to wash it down.

I think that largely the government couldn't care less about anyones safety and more about their own power.

Somebody needs to get out on their tractor. I do warn you however, that doing so is potentially UNSAFE! Safety boots, safety goggles, Hearing Protection, Gloves, Seat Belt, Back up Alarm and Camera, Inclination monitor, appropriate ballast, . REMEMBER, it's not just about you. someone might see you acting all careless and copy that behavior, for it's what humans do best it seems.
