Hello again been gone a long time from this site.
Looking for a DIY hitch so I can pull my log loader trailer attached to winch and then attached to tractor.
I have a clevis style hitch on the log loader and that attaches to the winch . I have a roll hitch on the loader . Loader can roll over if need be tractor stays on wheels. When I turn left and right clevis on winch to trailer can turn as the clevis hitch allows that.
My issue is when tractor goes down a low spot or over a hump I continually bend the pins in hitch as there is no movement in that direction.
Thought I had it all worked out I would roll the trailer hitch 90 deg so the pin goes in from the side rather then down The trailer hooked like this would still allow a rolling action But now I cant turn the tractor left or right.
Neighbor tells me I need to built a hitch that has 2 pins one required to install up and down to turn tractor and a second pin installed sideways to allow tractor to go down into low spots.
Maybe somehow a universal joint???

I have seen these hitches what look to be the end of a 3 point lift arm but not in a 5/8th -3/4 hole size. Only 1.25" size.
Someone must have built something.
A pintle hitch would work but don't have one or want one

Seems to me you answered your question with the clevis you use elsewhere in your setup. If you can put a pin in you should be able to pin in a clevis and it should provide up, down, left and right travel.

I made a swivel hitch for mine. Sandwiched up some pieces of 1/2 and 3/8 plate.

When you say you are using a clevis hitch,
do both of your hitches have two plates so you are pining thru 4 plates,
or do you have a single drawbar with a clevis hitch going on both top and bottom of the draw bar?
We use clevis hitches on almost all of our farm implements,
they go to a single plate drawbar, our draw pins are not tight fits they are intentionally loose fits,
to allow for articulation. Our use is in fields and roads so we may not need as much articulation as you do in the woods.

Make a drawbar with a 3pt hitch draft link/lift arm end. Then your trailer's clevis hitch can handle moderate dips and bumps without bending the pin.

You are amazing Bruce!

Next time I'm stumped, is it ok to pm you instead of starting a new thread? :cool2:
