As I've mentioned before, in most places, roundabouts reduce accident rates. Here, they went up, and more than one witness has said "It looked just like the Dukes of Hazard".

In NC you have to give a roundabout about 2 years before people figure them out without accidents:D

I need to re look, do they put up a yield sign at roundabouts? At least in NC, when getting on or off an exit, a yield sign means stop (not to me, but everyone in front of me, and no accidents so far), which confuses me why people would have an issue at a roundabout. God forbid if the roundabout has two lanes in it...

We have many 2 lane roundabouts. Yield signs at entrances. Speed limit 15 well before all entrances. Do not pass trucks in roundabout signs well before all entrances. Yet the carnage continues.

Apparently there's a few folks that would rather tailgate the driver in front of them. I personally appreciate this safety feature. I wish other drivers following me used this feature.

I've learned to let go of the person behind me and concentrate on the situation in front of me. I won't speed up for them. I won't tap my brake lights. If they hit me, it's their fault, their choice.

My 5 speed ton truck could sure use some more gears. My 366 gas burner truck will pull circles around it. It痴 probably got more power to start with but 10 gears vs 5 sets it way ahead. Even if the ton truck just had 1 more gear between 3-4th it would be a lot better.

What sucks with mine is if it needs to shift down, it unlocks the convertor and shifts to third at the same time!!!! To me, that's a computer programming problem. Why not separate those shifts.

Mine is a manual trans but 20 mph is the top end of second gear and the rpm isn’t high enough to make any power until about 30 mph in 3rd gear.

A roundabout?

Traffic circle. We call them rotaries here in New England.
Funny how in the 80s highway depts. went all out to get rid of many of them, only to put back in twice as many this century. Job security I guess.

You might not have a choice. Only a matter of time before it's (lane centering) mandated (if it hasn't been already). I don't like it either.

Honestly, with all the traffic on 81, I could never seem to use CC to my satisfaction.

No kidding. A couple years ago we went to visit one of my stepsons in N.C. and took I-81 from Scranton to just south of Roanoke. I did not expect the traffic we ran into (and it was mid-week both directions). Lots and lots of trucks as well as left lane hogs. Kind of stressful. Pretty country though.

Roundabouts/ rotaries/ traffic circles would be brilliant if they were found everywhere, if they were taught in driver's ed, and if everyone with a license were smart enough to use them properly.

As is, they're a rare occurrence, and a trap where idiots go to damage other people's vehicles.
