That's the way it's supposed to work. Yellow means stop if you can safely. Otherwise, clear the intersection at normal speed. General rule of thumb is if you will have to brake hard to make the stop on yellow, you should probably continue and clear the intersection. If you can brake normally, then stop.

Oh, shucks, around here yellow means ACCELERATE, or so it seems.

Same frustration for me like some states like California that allow motorcycles to pass between cars on the freeway!

What we are referring to is not a passing lane. It's a lane to pull into so that you can make a left hand turn without stopping the entire line of traffic behind you; or wait to pull into traffic when making a left hand turn from a parking lot or driving. Traveling or passing is prohibited as noted in my previous link.

And we all know that nobody would ever think about breaking the law, right?

Yes, I am awaare of that. I posted to point out the dangers of a "middle passing lane". I think theyi were ouitlawed back in the 60s or 70s. Another danger back then was the Washington Baltimore expressway. One of the first 4 lane, limited entry roads. Poor planning. When I first saw it I couldn't believe it. Limit was 50 or more, Exiting traffic went under the bridge and looped around to the right to merge with the cross traffic. Entering traffic, looped around to the right and crossed under the brides. Yes, that is correcct, exiting and entering traffic crossed each other under the bridges.

I can remember in the late 60s the local funeral home providing ambulance service in my hometown area. Owner was also the county coroner and owned the adjacent icehouse. One stop shopping. We have come a long way.

Old age care has become very efficient in San Angelo Tx. They buil a big new retirement/care center and directly across the street a new funeral home. People with rooms on the road side had a very good view of their future.

I have no doubt that some clown doesn't want to watch you pick your nose or scratch your balls. If you read what you quoted, "certain actions initiated recordings for so many seconds prior to and after the event..." This is called CYA. There are enough idiots driving cars. Having a CDL assumes you can handle more responsibility and drive more responsibly.

That said, with todays electronic generation, I can get scared thinking about it. We fired a driver (younger guy) because he would actually post crap on his facebook page while HE WAS DRIVING. Also fired a driver (again, younger guy and when I say younger, mid 30's or so) AFTER he spent 6 months in the hospital because it was determined that he was texting while driving.

Worst case, most companies are at least going to GPS for truck location (added the fact that you can see how fast they are driving).

That's one of the drawbacks of a dash cam. Cop sees on in vehicle involved in crash and will snag it. Good, bad or indifferent it will show what you were doing during and just befoe the crash. the crash.

That funeral home is in all our future, isn't it? I'm hopeful that my appointment is still a good bit in the future.

I value the trucking industry. Highly value them. I am very attuned to truck traffic anywhere near me on the highway. I adjust my driving to minimize impact on theirs.

Same here. Many of the highway intereections require a 'douible' to cross into the opposing lane to make the corner. I see one coming, I will stop short and wait till he clears. Get behind a truck moving a bit slower that I want, I drop back and make it clear that I am not planning on passing, etc.

I thought that was what red lights were for. As long as you saw it while it was still green, it's OK to blast through the intersection.
