Lights here are timed also. When the one that you are sitting at turns green, you watch the next one turn yellow. I may have mentioned that before, in the now-defunct Pet Peeves thread.

Years ago when sport bikes first came out a friend who ran a motorcycle shop had a modified Kawasaki (I have a Yamaha). Not far is a twisty turny 2 lane road you'd be lucky to average 40 mph on. One evening my buddy said he was playing cat and mouse with some guy in a new expensive Porsche when they got to a straight spot. My buddy blows his doors off well over 100, he had his pants pulled down and as he passes the Porsche shakes his bare behind at the guy.

What he didn't know is a cop had radar set up so he takes off after him and pulls him over. He said the cop was laughing so hard he couldn't write out the ticket.

OK, I'm calling BS on that story. I ride most every day, and often "enthusiastically". There is no way in the world that ANYONE can be riding at a high rate of speed and drop his drawers.... probably not even at a sedate speed. One's right hand must stay on the throttle, right? So your buddy had to stand up while playing cat and mouse, and drop his pants using his left hand only? Sheesh

I don't need any hands on bars when cruise control is set, but I've never set it at 100.

Sometimes a story like that would never play out like this...(even has a Porsche in it!)

About 40 years ago as a young dumb teenager I managed to test out our unknown-to-me super-speeder law. State trooper pulls me over, looks at me and my license, then says: Get back in your car Follow Me. Huh? Fortunately (and unfortunately) someone at the county jail knew my dad so I didn’t get the full facility tour and a bunk.

I live on SR 20 in Washington and the summer is alive with motorcycles heading into the North Cascades. My obsevation is that all Harley riders, while not strictly obeying speed limits, tend to ride safely and usually in groups of 6 to 20 or more. However, the high revving, high power imports tend to ride solo or in groups no bigger than three. Their speeds border on insanity often passing my front door at 80 to 100 plus, passing cars in dangerous places and sometimes forcing oncoming traffic onto the shoulder.

Motorcycle and car = bad, motorcycle and tree = bad, motorcycle and a June bug in the head at speed = bad Bikes never win, they always loose and do does the operator. I have 4 bikes myself, been riding since I was 16 and I'm 70 so I know. Surprised I've lasted as long as I have with all the idiots on the road today. Probably why I keep my motorcycle riding to rural 2 lanes now.

Just read a NHTSA report. Fewer vehicles on the road because of the pandemic but motor vehicle caused deaths are way up as well as citations for excessive speed and various other infractions.

People in a huge hurry to die I guess and motorcycles are at the very bottom of that chain of death.
