What about slapping a cheap coat of paint over it
I bet if I take a swath of 100,000 city people and a swath of 100,000 country people I would find less crime, less divorce, less sin, less abortion, less godlessness, less government handouts and less unemployment with the country folks than the city folks.
Now before anyone gets any ideas, I didnt say there would be NO problems with country people, just LESS and probably a LOT less.
And as far as when in Rome the problem is they dont change when they move out here. Most, not all, bring their city slicker garbage out here and start making trouble. Very few country people move to the city.
That tells you a lot in itself. People dont want to live in piles of trash, rats, graffiti, corruption and crime. I worked in downtown Philadelphia after college for a few years. It never felt safe. Many of my office co workers were mugged. One was raped. It took courage to turn my back on my college degree and career, but the job wasn稚 worth my life. I have been working in the country for 35 years and wouldnt move to a city for 3 times the money.
And a lot less teeth.
I will take that bet re 100,000 people. i bet it comes pretty close to even. What you and I think of as decent behavior is not universal.
We all live in a bubble and surround ourselves with people like ourselves, birds of a feather. It's very easy to think my way is the right way and the only way.
I agree with most of what you said, I moved to the country on purpose, twice, and I never try to change anything, just mind my business.
I know city people that would give you the shirt off their back and I bet you do to! I know country people that would steal from you the minute you turned your back and I bet you do to, and vice versa.
It's the gross generalizations that are not fair.
I assure you, if I made disparaging comments like that, let's say about the state of the American woman, I'd be bombarded.
City people think country people are rubes. Country people think city people are a holes. I think they are both right, and both wrong.
Just occurred to me. I make the nastiest generalizations about lawyers and our govt. over employment situation, so I'm guilty too!
You better hope that bet isn't for a lot of money, cuz you will loose the bet!I will take that bet re 100,000 people. i bet it comes pretty close to even.
I took down a very old, rotting, and leaning 8x8 post at my entrance. The neighbor claimed it was the property marker, which it wasn't. I very nicely told her it was a horrible eyesore and it was going to fall on a car someday. I also told her I intended on planting a very lovely entrance garden there that my late husband and I had planned and I would be happy to leave a couple of feet distance to be sure I came nowhere near where she believed the property line to be. Within days she put up a hideous, wood posts and T-post 8' fence with hand-pulled crooked cattle wire. Then she covered it with pieces, literally pieces, torn and dirty roofing composite! (of course, the dirty part is facing me and my entrance drive) It starts at the corner and runs 30' in each direction This horrible, ugly thing not only parallels my entrance driveway but completely blocks the area where we had planned the garden!! After about two years she actually paid for a survey, which confirmed she was wrong, I offered to put up a nice privacy fence and she hatefully refused, then she moved that ugly piece-mill fence 30" inches to the correct property line. My daughters run a kennel and sell puppies for $1500 - $2000 each and their clients have to drive right down this fence!! When my brother, who lives in Texas, saw it he said he would help me build a fence in front of hers but there is only about 18"-24" between her fence and my drive. One of these days I am going to do it!! What is wrong with people?
