It's funny timing, because at that time, the man was still king of his castle, but the show implied otherwise. Heck, even the cat threw him out of his own house in the intro! Like that was somehow funny.

Todays males are often some sort of girly boy, particularly in the big cities. I do not understand it.

Soy boys and metrosexuals.

Terminology

Effeminate comes from Latin effeminātus, from the factitive prefix ex- (from ex 'out') and femina 'woman'; it means 'made feminine, emasculated, weakened'. Another Latin term is mollities, meaning 'softness'.

In ancient Koine Greek, the word for effeminate is κίναιδος kinaidos (cinaedus in its Latinized form), or μαλακοί malakoi: a man "whose most salient feature was a supposedly "feminine" love of being sexually penetrated by other men".[4]

"A cinaedus is a man who cross-dresses or flirts like a girl. Indeed, the word's etymology suggests an indirect ****** act emanating a promiscuous woman. This term has been borrowed from the Greek kinaidos (which may itself have come from a language of Ionian Greecs of Asia Minor, primarily signifying a purely effeminate dancer who entertained his audiences with a tympanum or tambourine in his hand, and adopted a lascivious style, often suggestively wiggling his buttocks in such a way as to suggest **** intercourse....The primary meaning of cinaedus never died out; the term never became a dead metaphor."[5]

Other vernacular words for effeminacy include: pansy, nelly, pretty boy, nancy boy, girly boy, molly, sissy, *****, tomgirl, femboy,[6] and girl (when applied to a boy or, especially, adult man). Conversely, a masculine girl or woman would be called a tomboy, butch, or dyke. The word effete similarly means effeminacy or over-refinement, but comes from the Latin effetus 'having given birth; exhausted', from ex- and fetus 'offspring'. The term tomgirl, meaning a girlish boy, comes from an inversion of tomboy, meaning a boyish girl.

I find this stuff facinating. Women have insisted men become more sensitive and play a more motherly role, yet women aren't (generally) sexually attracted to such men.

Now I've learned an English lesson that I was never taught in school.

Just an observation.

I think i'm correct, too lazy to confirm.

More than 50% of households are 1 parent, guess what gender?

Women spend 90% of disposable income.

Our culture is defined by tv, that's very important, and commercials define tv.

The american male continues to be portrayed as a ......girly boy....both in the sit coms and commercials.

We have a bunch of boys being raised by mothers, i see it in the projects and in rural areas, it's everywhere.

I believe a child, especially a boy, needs both a strong father and, a strong mother. Things change.

LoL...Hardly...!

A very small minority (writers and producers) do not define our culture they simply mirror it...said writers and producers draw from a just as small minority of so called "influencers"...advertising has always relied on the psychology of influence...people today are subjected to said influence at a much earlier age than in past eras...

It is the education system that is most responsible for controlling what is considered culture...The diminishing strength of our culture is directly related to the philosophical direction coming from classrooms and collegiate lecture halls...

Boiled down to, " It takes a man to raise a man "... I agree.

Back in my "Enlightened Days" a couple of friends (?) took me to visit a dyke couple raising a son. Both of them were deathly afraid of men and I'm not sure WTF I was doing there, yet in the time I spent there it was painfully obvious that kid was pretty messed up. His biggest influences were both afraid of his gender... I've always wondered what happened to him, it wouldn't surprise me if he was in prison or dead.
