After over a year, it’s still in it’s box and has not been used yet. Did not need it, I guess?

We left ours in the box for about a year or so (was a Christmas Present). After reading such good reviews and recipes on TBN we decided to try it and now love using it. This is not your Grandma's pressure cooker and is darn near idiot proof. Good Food done Well!

I've had my power pressure cooker for years, and although I don't use it nearly as often as I use to, I do still really like it, and do use it once in a while for cooking.

Lately I've been canning 4 pints at a time with it, usually dry beans, canned to later use...

Okay, I have a nice big ham bone from dinner last night and I have a hankering for split pea soup. Dried split peas I have, ham bone obviously, carrots and all that good stuff on hand. So now the million dollar question is...... slow cooker or Instant Pot.
:banghead: :banghead:

Now, I hate to waste a perfectly good ham bone (which I left a lot of ham on)..... so I gotta make the right choice....

Tease yourself all day by slow cooking. It will taste twice as good then.

Did a 5# Turkey breast in ours .. 30 minutes @pressure plus 20 minutes natural vent. Very tasty .. very juicy.

Instant Pot!
I just don't understand how an 'instant' pot is going to take the time necessary to cook down to best extract and meld the flavors? Someone is going to have to explain.

When you cook something in a pot and keep it simmering to reduce it, all the flavors are concentrated in the reduction.

When you cook something in a pressure cooker, the pressure pushes the liquid into the food and concentrates the flavors in the liquid. Since you use less liquid in a pressure cooker, but it was pressed through the food, the liquid contains the same amount of flavor as if it were reduced over time.

Make sense?
