Re: What痴 your most used attachment

Bach hoe. I can pop a medium sized root ball out pretty quick. I've had it on for a year but soon need to attach bush hog. I love it but you must remember, there's a big hunk of metal dangling out there behind you!

I also vote backhoe. Very versatile. Just yesterday, helped my neighbor (with his dead IH-444). His tractor wouldn't start and was on side of road pointing towards a tree. As we attempted to pull it, gravity turned the wheels making it want to go down the hill.

I backed up a bit, wrapped the chain around my backhoe bucket and lifted the front of his tractor off the ground, changing where it was pointing so I could then pull it UP the hill and onto the road (it was only sitting on the shoulder).

Got it on the road and then pull started it (with the backhoe but not with the backhoe, wrapped chain around axle).

Could have done same with loader bucket however, would have taken a different approach to do it and I would have had to "drive" the backhoe to move his tractor whereas with the hoe, I was able to simply crowd the hoe in which pulled him forward while I stayed put with my stabilizers down.

During the dry months I would say my pallet forks, I move a lot of wood, downed trees. In the winter my hydraulic snow plow.

Hmm... most cherished? We've only had the FEL one season and we are still learning all the advantages of having one. We recently bought forks and already I am finding them an awesome addition. For the trail work and mowing, the most used has been the brush hog. I guess my most cherished is the 60" hog since it rides with me a lot!

Re: Whatç—´ your most used attachment

The logging winch.
Many uses in addition to winching in trees and logs and dragging them. I’ve used it for getting rid of so many bushes around the house without having to drive on the lawn.
For a safety “plan B” when felling trees to get them to fall in the right direction, or for pulling them over rootball and all.
Used it to get friend’s Unimog truck out of a ditch.

Mine is the front loader-I got so much done with that attachment. If I had t get rid of one or the other (wife or tractor) I would def, get rid of the wife. Its OK she already knows. She said the same thing about her Mustang to me LOL. Hey-dont judge us:)

You rent a "wife" for a lot less than renting a tractor.

Re: What痴 your most used attachment

I'm near the end of reclaiming about 10 acres of pasture overgrown with small trees and shrub growth.

I was cutting thorny honey locust, plus other small 4 to 8 inch trees with a chainsaw. Then loading by hand on my trailer, moving and unloading, throwing by hand onto my brush piles. Tedious.

Hated using the rotary cutter for initial clearing because of the thorns getting scattered. Was getting 2-3 front tire flats per week (before I had them foam filled!) Thorns everywhere...

I got an EA Wicked Root Grapple in July which has been bullet proof and by far my favorite time multiplier.

It easily digs the thorny devils out, intact - roots, thorns and all - plus use it to push over other trees up to about 8 inches, then easily move them to brush piles which I can now get stacked to well over 8 feet high...without touching them by hand or scattering thorns!

The amount of work I had considered to be a full days effort to cut with the chainsaw and then get thrown on the brush pile by hand now only takes about 15 minutes with the grapple.

Enjoyable to use and hugely satisfying to see the progress.

A view from October of a few of my ~20 brush piles, with some of the cleared land behind. 261531461.jpg

Re: What痴 your most used attachment

All depends on the season.

Summer is the FEL, winter the snow blower.
