I got the Covid

I don’t want to hijack this thread, but thought it would be ok to mention that I was diagnosed with Covid on Tuesday. I’m 47 and healthy, and how I knew something was up is that I woke up Monday and couldn’t smell the coffee brewing, nor could taste it. My wife said go smell the Christmas tree and see what happens. Absolutely nothing!

I called my doc, and they said come in and get tested. That whole process took about 15 minutes and yep, I was +.

I removed myself from our house on Monday to limit any exposure to my wife and daughter, and so far (Sunday) they seem to be fine. My home has been my camp trailer, parked next to my shop, so being quarantined hasn’t been too awful, but not being with my family over Christmas sucked.

Regarding my symptoms-

It’s now Sunday, so I’m into this about a week from my first symptoms. At this time, I still have no taste or smell, but absolutely have no other symptoms or problems. I consider myself fortunate and while not totally out of the woods yet, I don’t think I’ll get sick.
I know for some people this can be a rough ride and I feel bad for them (hang in there Eddie and wife), but the vast majority of people will get thru it just fine.

Regarding masking, distancing, etc-

I have limited my time in public places since March, I work alone in my office, and I do wear a mask when I go into a place that requires it, which is basically all of them. It’s been a minor inconvenience at most. I believe that unless you totally isolate from society, you will probably end up getting it.

Yup......a mask is a worthless device that you put on your face, to make yourself and others, feel that you are doing something.

Truer words were never spoken. You have either had Covid, or are going to get it unless you are totally isolated. the next question becomes the different strains, and do we have any immunity from them just because we have had it before. That I don't know. But I think your chances of getting Covid are very good. And your chances of survival are also very good. Of course that doesn't help the ones that don't survive, a bit. Everyone in Branson Mo. wears a mask in public period. I haven't seen anyone without a mask in public in a long time. it is a local ordinance. But Covid 19 is running rampant through our community. Everyone I know has had it or has it.

I am of the opinion that those of us that are going to die from it are going to die from it and there isn't a whole lot we can do. The vaccines are coming. My daughter is a healthcare worker and she should have gotten hers on the 26th. I haven't checked back with her. But it is going to take time for antibodies to build in our bodies from the vaccines. For a lot of us the vaccines probably won't make much difference as we have had it anyway. But for some that have escaped so far they could be the life saver. Of course we don't know about the multiple strain thing.

Over a million people have already been vaccinated. My nieces who are nurses have been.

One positive aspect of mask wearing is if you are an ugly gal, no one will see your ugly mug. Even ugly gals usually have pretty eyes......:D

I agree. The issue is, like the common Asian flu, some people who contract it get really ill and die and some get over it with little issue and therein lies the quandary that medical professionals can only guess about and that is, why do some get really sick and die, while some get mildly ill. They (medical professionals) like to quantify it by using the pre condition scenario but i reality is that really true? I don't thin it is. I think the severity of the infection has more to do with a persons genetic makeup that anything else.

The Wuflu has become a political football. The common Asian flu kills just as many but gets less play because it isn't a political football.

Far as reactions from the injections. I get sick every time I get a flu shot, but I get one despite that. Better the get ill for 24 hours than get the flu and really get sick or expire from it. For me, that also applies to the WuFlu.".......

The good news for me is I won’t get to smell the nasty gear oil that I’ll be draining out of my old D6.
My quarantine has allowed me time to start restoring this thing, finally..

That's a completely false statement. The mask helps to keep your breath droplets from spreading far from your pie hole and infecting others.

So is a smile. Nobody can force me to wear one either.

Not to worry though, people who won't wear masks in stores and other public places don't seem to smile much either.

Your thoughts and my thoughts are completely in agreement James, I decided much earlier this year that there is little likelihood people were going to be able to skip their turn at bat.....
