I was often asked to be an alter server at funerals...

As a kid it was an eye opening glimpse into another world...

Some funerals were celebrations and some non stop crying.

Gratuities sometimes followed as did hand written thank you cards

Never thought of it as a burden and often the family received great comfort...

Gratuities never expected but being 10 and getting a $20 was a big deal...

The aforementioned raised 10’s millions of dollars given in private and public donations for Leukemia. Leukemia is now a very curable disease. The wife of a guy who works for me has Leukemia. Scary stuff, but she survived. Would have died 20 years ago.

Wonder where generously helping the funding of very expensive Leukemia research puts him compared to vindictive little people who destroy innocent peoples property and brag about it? Mirrors help with that type of hypocrisy.

Yes - he was a very generous man with his time and money (personal plus fundraising). It was never (rarely) mentioned by (in his words) the mainstream media.

It ranks very high on my scale. But my scale is not important.

He was also a religious man.

I'll remember a hate mongering drug addict; God can remember the Leukemia fund raising...

I did the same in grade school. At that age, death was something (fortunately) I had not experienced in my family and something that was abstract.

However, when you see people in pain and learn it’s a parent, or child, or spouse, it can even have an impact even on a clueless kid. At least for a while, it made me appreciate my parents and grandparents a little more.

I remember hearing from a friend that went through tornado destruction in Missouri...

Mr Limbaugh heard of the destruction and sent truckloads of supplies...

A neighbor who passed years ago had sent Rush a letter questioning something said on the radio.

Rush sent a two page personal response and the Grandaughter read the letter in entirety at the funeral... it was humerus and like two old friends catching up... Rio Linda was mentioned several times.

He grew up in Cape Girardeau, MO. It’s roughly 1-1/2 hours south of St. Louis.

You know he was also a big contributor to the Marine Corps Law - Enforcement foundation. He raised millions for the spouses of those gave the ultimate sacrifice, so people can have the right to burn flags and express their freedoms.
I wonder what the little clowns who trash him after he died a painful death think about the thousands who benefitted, perhaps by having their lives saved, from his generosity?

Haters never spent any time to understand him.
They heard the word " racist " and just repeated the term, like most small minded haters do. Then they wrap themselves in phony virtue.

This thread has morphed into a real life answer to the OP's question. Too bad that he hasn't returned to see it.
