I like the Lighting looks and that it has the 10K towing capacity like our 2010 F-150.

The down side it's not an EV but an electified ICE vehicle. The nearly one ton battery is a huge factor energy use wise. Towing 10K pounds at interstate speed limits could cut range in half based our 2010 with our 5.4L engine.

In 2014 Ford showed a 600 HP 4 motor electric F-150 concept EV. Ford I expect like Tesla will be short on batteries for years to come because Ford should sell a lot of EV's.

Trucks and tractors really need 240 volt overnight charging where they normally park to work best. This even applies to our 40 kWh Nissan Leaf battery.

Yesterday I watched a video of the reveal party of the 2022 F-150 electric truck.

Like all innovations, the first adopters will be enthusiasts and the well to do. For the vast majority of our driving a 200 mile range would be plenty, but I have no interest in sitting at a charging station waiting on the battery. An EV at my house would charge in the shop or garage, but that is not a option for renters. I would still keep an ICE around for long trips.

We Bet F-150 Lightning's Range Is under 100 Miles when Towing at the Max

Our Leaf can get 4 miles per 1 kWh of battery usage with light foot driving or 2 miles when dogging it. If I was going to do much towing I'd like to start out with a 500 mi range minimum.

One of the issues with this transition is that many people don't really grasp the scale of the oil industry, or understand the range of products it enables today. The capacity of the oil industry far exceeds what most people ever interact with in a detailed way.
