Stop bolt won't go back in!

I'm still hoping some Kubota tech chimes in here and tells me how to move the swash plate forward or backward so the alignment hole appears. I've got a miniature snake cam in the hole and I don't see any alignment hole. The 7/16 -20 tap worked fine. Working on the new stop plug with my harbor freight grinder now. I really don't think I need I need a lathe as the tolerances can't be that exact from 1985. It's just an alignment stud, not a piston. I can't believe nobody had this problem before, I'm still hopeful as ol' Bessie still got a lot of life left in her.

Your better option for a kubota tech to chime is is on their site. Orange tractor talk . com
Excuse the spaces, hopefully it slides through in that format.

OTT is not affiliated with Kubota, but it IS a great site for Kubota owners! And there are Kubota techs and very knowledgeable individuals there who are more than willing to help...when they can.

because the swash plate is under spring loading so the bolt will never go back in correctly. The stop bolt has to be inserted with the pump out of the cavity.... and if you manage to put in a larger bolt and get it tight, you'll bend the swash plate and the HST will be useless. The swash plate and the pistons are all a precision fit.

Like I said way before, always download or buy a manual before doing something as asinine as what you did.

bite the bullet, man up and take it to a Kubota dealer and let them fix it and chalk it up to your lack of understanding of how the trans works and for heaven's sake don't take out any bolt you see underneath.

End of story for me.

I reserve my opinion on OTT. The OP will never get it to work right. All that will happen at this point without 'divine intervention' from a Kubota dealer is he'll have a useless tractor that won't move.

Just an uneducated idea, but might the unit shift if the directional pedal pedal was pushed? If so, maybe it would move enough to bring the hole back where you need it, if the pedal was moved towards the maximum in the right direction…

No it will not!
The HST should be dismantled and properly repaired.

I think you're looking for an easy answer to a hard problem. I don't know your skill level but at some point I think you are going to have to face the fact that the easy solution just doesn't exist. The good news is that there's plenty of parts tractors around so finding a used one is a possibility.

Any update on this issue?

Taking it to a dealer is not an option, it just threads in, I will re-tap to a larger hole and use a bolt that's the next size up. I never moved the shift after removing the bolt, so it can't be too far off from the swash plate being aligned now. Why would it need to come apart and how do align it?

Thanks for any help, and leave the wise ass comments to yourself, thus is supposed to be a place to get help, not "take it to the dealer" and what not jackals comments.
Agree to all. We all make mistakes, it is part of learning. I did the same thing on an oil pan on a vehicle (it was aluminum). Drill it one size up and tap it; you will be fine.

Glad it worked out for you, but it was quite a different situation and does not help the OP at all.

Please take a close look below at the B7100 manual page the OP posted in post #2 in this thread. Item 12 has been pushed out of alignment by spring loading and item 15 (special bolt) will not go in without disassembly!

The situation has been explained in this thread in posts #17, #40 and #43 in detail if you would read them.
