Might as well have just made it solid with no bucket. Its so thin the dirt will compact in it every time. Not much way around it if you need a narrow trench in a narrow space though! Thanks for sharing!

That is the beauty of a banana style bucket it can be completely packed in soil and still dig well.
They are great for stumps. It allows you to get around the roots.

Perhaps that soil was a little too dry for a banana bucket.
If it's sticky, it will come out of the hole better.
Conversely, if you have a conventional small bucket you want the soil to be very dry, that will keep it from sticking.
I only use my 6" bucket during the height of the summer dry season. But, it looks like there won't be any dry season here, this year.

Nice bucket and trench.
The backhoe buckets I currently have for my GC 1710. 6” standard bucket 10”, 12”,16” and a 6” banana style bucket. I have a root ripper and a lifting hook and QC for it.
We have red clay and the 6” standard bucket would only really work in dry conditions, but I still had to clean it out some. That is the nature of clay other soil types would not be the same.
The banana style lets me keep digging no matter the clay wet or dry. If you look on the internet, they even make that style bucket on big and small excavators.
We are thankful for how well this bucket is selling, and we are getting very good feedback on it.
I built a heavy duty plate roller to make the curved back. That is working out well and I wish I had it when I made the buckets for my tractor.
