I hate those noisy snowmobiles. Would be nice to have a electric one that would putz around at 35 mph and last 4-5 hrs on a charge.
The 4 strokes can be much quieter. The first time that I saw one I was standing just off a snowmobile trail watching a string of them go by. The last one was a 4 stroke and I was amazed at how quiet it was.
What always surprises me most though is that I can be standing 20 feet off a snowsled trail wearing my blaze orange vest; yet when a string or ten or more sleds go by, not one of theme even knows that I'm there.

If this article doesn't fit in this thread than I don't know what does.

You can encounter the same situation in a gas operated vehicle, travelling in unfamiliar terrain; we've just learned to adapt.
That is a MUST read article. Until one plants butt in an EV seat in do or die situations one is devoid of EV understanding. It's similar to plowing with a mule and with a tractor which I did both at a very young age. That is a huge change. Experiencing gas than an EV is the only way that I was able to get a grasp of EVs without talking out of ignorance on the EV subject.

It also answered some of the questions I've had. I will probably buy a new Ford Maverick next year, and park my Colorado except when I need a truck or off road vehicle.
120 years ago when we were changing form horses to gas the story of a Model A driver could have been the same. Then add in bad tires, roads which were designed for horses, and a myriad of other problems which have long since been ironed out.

There are some places out west where you need to pay attention to the next gas station, if not, you'll be sitting on the side of the road. No cell service and maybe no body driving by for a day or two.

Found a place like that in Nebraska on a motorhome trip the kids were 13 and my son was a co-pilot and his shortcut almost made a short to get into a gas station but we made it.

The concept of global competition is good, yet needs a level playing field. One reason that China is a leader in the battery sector is because they can destroy their environment the way we won't. Another reason is because they have been working on them while we've stuck with our gas engines. We once were leaders but have sat on our haunches for too long.
Im with you on the first reason you cite, but not on the second. The Chinese polluted their way to success. And everyone knows it.

No better here (than USA); arguably worse.

The rest of the G7 could learn a lot from Germany. Not perfect, but they at least put major/sustained/meaningful effort/structure/$ into retaining manufacturing domestically.

Rgds, D.
I think the Germans are beginning to outsource a LOT of manufacturing to cheaper more manufacturing-friendly countries, too.
But yeah, Germany does have a noticeable manufacturing segment. But you have to wonder how much money the German government gave out in subsidies.
