My brother built a pretty nice fence out of bigger red oak post, in the 5th year the wind blew it over. lol The rotting post broke off...

NOW, if he could have got his hands on white oak post....

Man, he had put a lot of work into that fence!

I'd be sawing 2x4's and 6's, sell them and buy PT post!!

SR
This stuff would be laying horizontally. Base is stone dust.
Was talking to a contractor (this is not his specialty) but in discussion he suggested 6 or 8 mil plastic sheet or something like that
between the dirt being supported, and the wall. I think at that time I was suggesting filter cloth with a drain tile running the length.

Before setting the wood in place this time, I planned on coating it with something like hunt4570 used.

The originals were bought at HD. 3.5 x 5 x 8' If I remember. I don't know if they were treated but since they specifically said ground contact I'm guessing they were.
They were barely held together by anything. Nails were shorter than they should have been because it's all that was available at the time. So about 1/2" of nail into the
board below yet stood for 20 yrs.

My God, I just realized how truly cheap I can be :)

But my cheap ways have generally worked well for me in life. So far LOL

I've been using this for my wood, it says its good for in ground contact and for docks and piers and stuff/30 years. The longest I've had anything coated with it is about 3 years so far so I guess we'll see. Got it on line from Home depot for about $100 per 5 gal shipped to my house.
It's a product like this I was going to look into.
Thanks.

A little update on the oak countertops in my kitchen, started on these about 3 years ago when I cut the trees down and milled the slabs..
That looks great. I bet it's satisfying knowing you took it from tree to countertop.

Hunt, Those countertops sure look nice!! You did a splendid / professional looking job there. And just at the cost of some of your time. Great!
Thanks... it was quite a project, and the fact those trees came off my place I thought was pretty cool. Talk about start to finish!

First cut with Echo 7310p. Runs good but bogged down easy. Hope it opens up after a few tanks of gas. Clearing a small area for a tractor shed.

Those cabinets and countertops are absolutely freaking gorgeous! You do some nice work! (y) (y)

Reminds me a little of some gumwood cabinets in an old house I had once, I do miss those.

Those are the R14 tires. First time I've seen them on a Kubota. Thanks for the pic.
What size bar is that? 28, 32? Great photo of that saw.

Looks spectacular Mr. Hunt.

The copper bands are a nice touch. Looks like you took some extra effort to stabilize the check in the island overhang. Well executed...it adds to the craftsmanship.
