This news clip speak of the JD strike and why many unions are now considering doing the same. I've never belonged to a union, but I see why they are. We have known people who work for JD corp.

He also pays how many folks’ salary?
i bet he personally doesn't pay anyone's salary. he's an employee, not an owner. ( probably got a real nice stock plan so he's kinda an owner)

he may provide enough value to the co that it grows etc, requiring more employees but......

big difference

was it adam smith the economist who said that when the rich get rich, everyone profits?

not sure if i believe that.

Years ago there was a well known construction equipment manufacturer that the union went on strike. The strike lasted several years, and the company responded by bringing in the non union salaried employees and built equipment. In this endeavor they discovered that they could build just as much equipment with a third of the work force. So the next union negotiation basically ended with the company agreeing to all the unions demands but in exchange the company only had to re-employ a third of the striking union members. The offer was accepted and ended the strike with 2/3 of the previous employees being put on unemployment benefits.
i've told the story where the beer workers threatened a strike in milwaukee in the early 70s. company said if you do, we leave.

union struck, companies left town.

By the time the 60s rolled around, in milwaukee, if you could get a job in the brewery that was better than a city job!

If someone is ******* around on company time they deserve to loose their job.
i knew tons of folks who worked at briggs.

actually, that f...ing around was known to happen where i worked also..........literally, in the QC lab.

at briggs in the 70s. there was so much vice on 2nd shift the police raided them, on a couple occasions.

friends worked there and said it was almost like prison with the drugs, he gangs and the clicks. some formen involved.

i'm pretty sure they removed prostitutes once.

this all from friends who worked there.

i'm just scratching the surface, most folks have no clue what really goes on out there!

A few years back my local town that had lost an air conditioner factory and two printing factories due to a down turn in the economy was approached by Toyota wanting to build an assembly plant but was turned down by the city council due to the wages being paid were too high

The coming Depression will shake out a lot of these 'woke' work issues. A warning from my dead parents who lived thru the 1930's: Pull your money from the banks and bonds, and stuff it in the refrigerator. Those wanting to end the glory of the USA are winning and closing in on the kill. Revolvers are the best choice, too: No brass hitting the ground.

Revolvers are too slow and have limited rounds. I always clean my brass BEFORE it goes into the magazines--No fingerprints. :giggle:

How did that work for them?

Stuffing your money in the refrigerator will just guarantee it loses significant value due to our high inflation. Banks and bonds are little better. Gold isn't a great option either, remember FDR made it illegal to own gold other than a little bit for jewelry and confiscated "illegal" gold. You would have had to have hidden your gold for about 45 years when it was made legal again in the mid-1970s in order to have kept it. Not very useful in my book.

Revolvers may be fun to shoot but this dustup is best solved by simply ignoring the people making the dictates. If enough do it, the problem goes away.

Could you share how you learned this? No offense but this is hard to believe.
