I cut and split another load of firewood today. The mini x is a big back saver for holding wood to cut and putting pieces on the splitter. The splitter has a hydraulic lift that’s a big back saver too but setting the round straight on the splitter is easier. The excursion wasn’t having anything to do with that load. I unhooked the trailer and I’ll take my F-750 back to deliver it.

before you decided to rescue the Excursion with your F750, I was thinking of reporting you to the Excursion Protection Agency. 😅😅joking of course.

I never planned on the excursion being up to the job. I pulled the trailer over empty, loaded it and unhooked it.

The trailer axles seem set back more than usual?

I’ve towed my TLB over a thousand miles with a diesel Excursion and could not have been happier.

That looks fairly typical for a dump trailer. I think the idea is if you were hauling a higher density material that won’t fill the trailer you can load it back heavy to make dumping easier without making the trailer unsafe. But you can definitely overload the hitch. My mini x doesn’t squat it nearly as bad as it is here.

What happened to that poor guys face, that's running the splitter. Looks like some sort of horrible disease. Sure hope it's not Covid, lol. :ROFLMAO:

I was looking on my phone so the pics are small and I thought it was dreads until I enlarged the pic.

I think sumbody is in the witness protection program. Why else would he be redacted.

Didn't know anything about sweet gum so I looked it up and found this. Maybe you should saw a couple boards too.

"Sweet Gum Firewood

There are many people who choose not to burn sweet gum firewood.

Since the wood is difficult to split and stack compared to other popular firewood types, some view it as a waste of time and energy.

Firewood is a topic of many different opinions.

Just because sweet gum might not be the best firewood around doesn't mean you can't use it.......it just takes a little more effort.

Sweet gum trees are found throughout the eastern United States.

It's considered a valuable tree used for lumber and furniture production, as well as for ornamental purposes."

gg
So I'm thinking I will disagree with that article! I read that whole thing and it kind of scared me, I was hoping I hadn't just wasted my time cutting that tree down but come to find out that sweetgum is a pleasure to split!! Granted I do not yet know how it will dry and burn but splitting so far has been a breeze! If it dries and burns well I may have my new favorite firewood source, and I have plenty of it around here! Pic on the left is one medium large sweetgum ready to go.
