Kubota or mahindra

I have never owned a Kubota, I use to own a Mahindra 3510 that was a fine tractor absolutely zero issues. I would certainly purchase another Mahindra with no hesitation.

Yes I'm sure.

No, you don't pay sales tax on your trade. Because you are the seller. The buyer is the one that pays.

Think if it this way.......you want a $30k vehicle.....you are paying tax on $30k no matter if you walk in the door with $10k cash, or a trade worth $10k.....you still pay your 7(ish) percent of the $30k.

What I am saying.....is rather than the above scenario.....I'd rather give them my trade for free....$0 on paper. And in turn just sell PE the new vehicle for $20k.

I'd rather pay tax on $20k than $30k. And makes no difference to the dealers bottom line

I know for a fact that that’s not how it works in TN. Everything I’m seeing on google suggest the same thing in Ohio.

Well you made me go back and look at some old dealer papers.

Turns out my memory isnt as good as I though when recounting the stories earlier... because I was way off on my figures...lol

BUT.....fact remains....Of the past 3 trade in's that I have kept paperwork for....TWO were charged sales tax on selling price BEFORE trade taken off.

BUT....ONE....the most recent only taxed the difference. So...makes me wonder if something changed. THe two that I was charged extra on were both 2018. THe one I wasnt was 2020

What's the odds that two rather large dealerships intentionally screw up like this? Performance Chrysler and donley ford here in Ohio ain't exactly mom and pop used car lots.

But you can clearly see....I was paying tax on the total BEFORE trade about.

The second one was my truck. My early recount of the story was incorrect. But they were holding fast at wanting to sell their truck for $35k and kept upping my trade value.

The ended up discounting truck $5k while simultaneously taking $5k off trade. Saved me $362 vs never discounting truck.

But now I am questioning it...(can't really do anything now anyway), but I'm thinking something may have changed in the last few years??

1st one you were ripped off by about $700 in extra taxes.
