The Amish sacrifice the use of engines, motors, electricity and other technology in far more ways than non Amish.
The amount of usage depends on what their Bishop says. Amish Bishops control districts/areas. Some Bishops are more liberal, some are more conservative. The more liberal, the more is allowed.
Not all Amish are alike. I work with Amish and Mennonites every week. Many of my subs are Amish and many people who I deal with in equipment are Mennonite. Overall, they are excellent, hard working, honest people who would be greatly admired if people outside their community understood them better.
Grouping them all into a one size fits all category like that is just plain wrong.
