Completely Untrue.
The Amish sacrifice the use of engines, motors, electricity and other technology in far more ways than non Amish.
The amount of usage depends on what their Bishop says. Amish Bishops control districts/areas. Some Bishops are more liberal, some are more conservative. The more liberal, the more is allowed.
Not all Amish are alike. I work with Amish and Mennonites every week. Many of my subs are Amish and many people who I deal with in equipment are Mennonite. Overall, they are excellent, hard working, honest people who would be greatly admired if people outside their community understood them better.
Grouping them all into a one size fits all category like that is just plain wrong.

Well, I did diligently search for a video of them bailing hay But... My experience living next to them was amazing, these people are what we "English" should aspire to as far as a work ethic goes.

True...and what Hay says is true also, depends on the Amish Bishops.
We love Lancaster County Pennsylvania and the Amish we spoke with said that exact thing, so they're not all exactly the same. We've visited lots of farms and so funny seeing a new tractor with home made steel wheels. They (meaning that Amish family) is allowed to have a tractor but not rubber tires.
Fantastic people, fantastic way of life.
Some elders would smoke a pipe, their home grown tobacco. I've bought home made root beer from Amish children and got a "buzz", apparently fermented.
Their farms are beautiful, and some live like 1800s...

The reference to the Amish is they don’t use electric in their homes and they don’t drive cars, and they still use horses.
They believe in a simpler lifestyle, although to me using horses to tow a baler ran by a gasoline engine doesn’t seem simpler.
Going all electric is a step backwards in my opinion. It will be less efficient, use more energy, and cause massive amounts of inconvenience to all.

And they can fix, weld or fabricate things like you wouldn’t believe. I have an Amish welding shop an Amish hydraulic shop that help me keep going.
Not much on electronics though
