I’ll be riding my motorcycle to work as much as possible. At least my wife and I both have that option. At over $4.30/gal already... it is more than double what we paid here in 2020.

Feel sorry for the folks who can’t get 60mpg in this “new normal”.

Nobody is stopping oil companies from producing more. They have millions of acres of oil leases in proven oil fields. They can operate as many rigs as they want on those leases. That’s my point. They produce to the level that keeps the prices where they want it. What do you suggest? Forcing companies to produce more by enacting laws requiring this? Or having government drill for oil? They produce based on their business plan and desired profit margins.

I know next to nothing about exploration or refining except powers that be in oil producing state of California have gone on record advocating rescinding offerings and increasing regulation to the point to make CA unattractive to the sector.

Chevron one of the heavyweights has been slowly transitioning to TX even with world headquarters here and Unocal has left little except for filling stations here…

Banning fracking may just be the tip of where things stand today.

Not to forget the prohibition on coal or even the transport of coal…

Up 50 cents since yesterday and that was 30 cents from earlier in the week and this is the independent with the lowest area prices and where I tank.

Might be time to dust off the 41 mpg 2001 Corolla?

CA is a special case. Coal is rapidly becoming irrelevant everywhere as old plants are closed or converted to natural gas, and no new plants are being built.

No, I suggest easing the existing restrictions on them. One example would be NG export terminal restrictions. If they were allowed to be finished and NG ships filled, they could export NG to Europe instead of buying NG from Putin.

Renewable energy – primarily from wind turbines and solar panels – cannot be loaded on tankers and shipped overseas to be used by other countries.

Thats not what I said. I said some states are banning homes from being hooked up to NG. If theres less NG customers then theres less demand and less exploration or production.

If you read the article, you’d see theres a certain individual backed by another group of environmentalists standing in the way of working anything out.

As far as “filling the gap from Russia”, today would be nice. Every barrel is blood money. We have the capacity shut him off now, but instead, we’re increasing from 3% to 7.9%.
