Again, your opinion.

Nobody is out to get me. And even if so, I’d want them to hear that slide. The goal is not to shoot someone. It is to get them to leave.
yeah, have them leave so they can return at a later date..
There won't be any rack sliding here. All I have to do is pull the trigger. There will be no warnings.
My door and windows are locked for the criminals protection, not mine

I unders5and that if the door kicks in and I suddenly awake, I'm not wasting time jacking around. But, if I can change a line of thought, I'd rather do that. Give a bad guy a chance to change his mind. May change his life. If the do9r is broke in, it's blaze of glory time.
Thats why in my post I said “I know they mean me harm”-like my door is kicked in, I am backed into a room, I see he has a firearm, then I give them warning. If they wont stop, then then its go time.

If I hear someone rattling my back door doorknob, I’m not shooting through the door or anything insane like that. Thats probably murder if someone did that. I’m warning I have a firearm, the police have been called, and I will fire if you open the door (something like that).
We, especially as parents, can‘t shoot anything in the house. Could be one of my kids, my crazy MIL, etc.
I keep a piece on each floor.

I've fired hundreds of rounds through my MarkII and never had a jam. Granted it's only a .22, yet the best defensive firearm is one which you are familiar with and can handle like an extension of your good right hand. (Or left, in my case.) I've shot more grouse with this gun than with every other firearm I've ever owned.

Mark 11 is a gem.

The Thunder Five. ... It can sit for as long as you want it, being a revolver, with one shot stopping power at close range. And its dual action, and so easy to use.

Its a Hand Cannon. But it is so heavy, you don't feel it.

You get to pick what you want it for in your world. You want 45 Colt, Okay. Lots of defensive rounds on those. You want 410 stacked 38 balls, you can have that also. Want bird shot, you can have that also.

Home defense is always going to be close up. And three rounds or less is the deal. This is both a big bore pistol, and a hand Shot Gun.

I have a couple loaded guns (all handguns) stashed around the house. They're all secure, but no trigger lock or anything like that.
The one in my nightstand is a Ruger SR9 with a laser

I figured you'd have a JD piece with a yellow grip and green laser. :)

I have read many threads on this subject. I am a shooter and have been for about 55 years. I used to hunt but now only target shoot. I am not a great shot but am competent. I will not use a firearm for home protection because there is no way I would be awake enough to determine if some noise or someone moving in the house is an intruder or not if I was woken up.

So that's me. But I have to say I am really pissed off at the many men I have run into who have pistols or shotguns for home protection who cannot shoot accurately. I have had several men who have shown me their pistols and I have had them out to my place where I can shoot legally. And I have always been a better shot. Not because I am some sort of great shot, but because these men never practice. I enjoy target shooting and try hard to be accurate. But I only shoot .22 caliber. Cheap and quiet. A 9mm has more kick but not so much more that I can't place a fairly accurate shot. But a .45 or a .357 is a lot more. And I can still easily out shoot these guys that come by to show off their latest acquisition.

The point I am trying to make is that if you get a firearm for protection you MUST PRACTICE REGULARLY WITH THE WEAPON. The reason I have mentioned that it was men who were shooting is because it was always men. If you are going to have a firearm for protection and you live with someone else they must also practice with the firearm. Man or woman, they must be comfortable with the weapon and competent with the weapon.

The S/W model 39 gen II and first gen 59, are IMHO, underrated. I have no idea why these are not sought after guns. A friend and I invested in a progressive reloader press with dies for 9 Mil. So we would go out and run one to two hundred rounds per session. He had a Glock 17 Gen 2. Which at the time every one considered the penultimate hand gun.
Even switching guns, between us, the 39 and the 59, were more reliable than the Glock, which, on occasion, 300 rounds or so, would stove pipe. The 39 and 59 never had a stove,... ever. Maybe he got, by chance, all the bad reloads?
