Foods you ate growing up that most folks don't eat today

Grandmother used to make home made fudge.....would melt in your mouth just looking at it. Way back in the '70's.

Reminds me. My Grandmother used to make something she called "Cream Pie". It was actually an egg custard, made with pure, fresh cow's cream. It was wonderful.
Also...I wasn't a kid when I ate my first East Texas Sweet Potato pie, but I wish I had a big piece right now! As the man said, "Make you throw rocks at Pumpkin pie".

Ketchup sandwiches. (Yeah, we were poor.)

I had some cousins who used to eat mayonnaise sandwiches.

The neighbor kids used to eat raw oatmeal and raisins.

All stuff I ate as a kid:
fried rabbit liver from the tame ones we raised. Really good.
sauteed lambs quarters (a wild green)
pressure cooked new potatoes and green beans from the garden
watermelon rind pickles (sweet)

I sure miss the fried eggplant my Mom used to make. Not to mention the possum grape, dewberry and sand plum jelly.

Beef tongue in dill sauce. I'm guessing some folks still eat it as I regularly see it in Costco & Sam's, but prices are sky high vs where they used to be.

I've eaten frog legs throughout my life. During my late teens my Dad started cutting the frogs right behind the head instead of at the midsection. Some of the tastiest meat is on the front legs and in the back. Looks a little odd though...

When I think about eating frog legs...all I can think about is all those poor little frogs rolling around in their little frog wheel chairs...!

When I think about frog legs, the first thing that I can think of was a chapter in the book "The Virginian", where he feeds the crew frogs legs and then turns it into a way to cut the legs off his rival.
