Strange looking Opossum. Looks more like a rat :) I have had good luck with the sticky traps.

Well I didn't miss it by far. "Small opossum" Hairless tail
Yup,just need to tweak the windage and elevation of my long distance focus.
Moss sorta flubbed it. Receiver hitches peel bark off shins but don't dig holes under greenhouses.
It would have had to been an awfully small opossum. ;)

We don't have o'possums up here... yet. They have moved into southern Maine though, I occasionally see them lying on the side of or in the middle of the road. It always leaves me to wonder... are they dead or just "playing possum". :D

I picked up one rat trap today. I have too many animals around to use conventional poison but have been wondering; since I know where both holes are if I could just run a garden hose into each one with the other end into the tailpipes of my pickups and get rid of them with CO1 poisoning.

+1 on traps, and peanut butter. I mix in oats to help it stick. One tip that I did pick up is that it pays to have multiple traps, and bait all of them for a few days to get rats over their bait shyness.

I would point out the obvious that there is no guarantee that the two holes are the only holes, and no guarantee that their den is in between the two holes that you see.

Terrier?

All the best,

Peter

Trouble with that is that you never know if you got them or not. No body, no crime, so to speak.

I’d use traps. Put them in boxes with holes in the sides if you have other animals that might trip them.

I’m also surprised they hadn’t gotten into the grain yet. I have friends that have horses and both have mentioned rat proofing the grain containers.

Good luck in your hunting. (y)

Just wait...armadillos won't be far behind...!

BTW...a dead armadillo on the side of the road is called a "possum on the half shell"...!

My kid and her husband out in Oklahoma play a game they call

Dillo, No Dillo

When they see roadkill, they call it Dillo or No Dillo. As they get closer, they see if they are correct.
