Got off the highway to find this jackass in front of me on the off-ramp today.

25 boards without a single strap. Well, he had a few bits of strap dangling from his ladder rack made out of random pieces of pipe.

We turned the same way up a very bumpy piece of road, the boards were sliding around but I can't say I saw any fall. How f^&*ng hard is it to put one $2 ratchet strap on your load of lumber?
A little hard to tell from the picture, but it looked like his truck had a bedliner in it too. Depending on what kind it is, those can be pretty slippery. Learned that one the hard way when I managed to deposit 8 sheets of OSB in the middle of the street once. 🤬

I'm guessing he uses those bits of twine to "tie" his ladders down when needed. Just a pathetic display of hauling competency.

I carry a heavy-duty net (made out of seat belt type webbing). With that type of load, I would have laid the net partially under the board ends and wrapped it over the top. Then secure the "4 corners" of the net back to tie downs. And I'd add a ratchet strap to hug them together prior to the net.

Similar but not as heavy duty. I have a piece of commercial fish net, the kind where they winch in a ton of fish, cut down from a torn net to fit over my 4x8 trailer. Carabiner clips secure the corners to my tiedowns. Then a couple of ropes across that. Nothing can fly out.

Can anyone suggest a source for a scrap piece of heavy commercial fishnet? I could use a slightly larger one and can't find a source.

Some trucks make it hard to tie down something low. A Toyota had rings on the bed floor in each corner, but a Ford had tie-down loops halfway up the bed side. A Ford's load would have to be about 8-12 inches high to use them.

True, but a low load can be wrapped. Just need enough strap to do so. The Home Depot Heros always piss me off leaving the parking lot with nothing holding their purchases.

And yet, MOST of them make it home just fine.
