Arly said I should send some snow pictures. I live about 50 south of him. He gets more snow than me, but we get our share.

This was Xmas day. When I first get some snow I bank the house, because it is on a uninsulated crawl space. My L3540HSTC with my L2195

6 ft blower is sitting behind the snow furrow that the county plow left. Where I was blowing the deep snow was next to the house shed. The last pictures are of

the old cow barn.

My neighbor said the snow was 3 feet deep on our road, with drifts from 4ft to head high. Fortunately for them, they are close to M28. I'm about 1-1/2 miles farther north, so I may not be able to get to my land for a while. Friends who have a place a few miles west of me reported 34" on their driveway when they arrived and started clearing it last night.

Nobody has been through my ski trails to groom them yet this season. There may be so many trees down still, they haven't been able to get through. I still had 1/4 mile to go to get to the back corner of the property and didn't get the road cleared of trees. It was just too wet to navigate and there were some big trees down on it that I wanted to save the wood, so I couldn't get back there with any equipment.

I still don't think the ground is frozen yet either.

Been to Mass City many times on a snowmobile, would stop at the Mass City Cafe for lunch.

The Motel/Restaurant has new owners and now is only a Motel.

The restaurant east of the blinking light has been closed for many years, because of a gas explosion. It has new owners, but I don't know if it's open again.

I sad note from here. We see about 20 sledding deaths per year, majority are alochol related but this one was not.

DUNCAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - On Dec. 31 at 11:53 a.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post were dispatched to DNR Trail 8, near Highway M28 in Houghton County for a single snowmobile crash.

A trooper arrived on scene with first responders and rendered first aid to a 13-year-old female snowmobile driver who had suffered a serious head injury. The investigation showed the driver had been moving over to allow room for oncoming snowmobile traffic to pass when she was pulled from the trail by the deep snow.

The driver lost control of the snowmobile and collided with a tree. The female driver was transported via ambulance to Baraga County Memorial Hospital where she died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver had been operating under the immediate supervision of her father.

The driver and her father are from Missouri. The name of the driver has not been released. Assisting on the scene were Bay Ambulance, Covington Township First Responders, and Dynamite Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
