Hi Guys,
I am looking for some help identifying a 3pt winch. There are no brand markings that I could find, but it does say made in the USA on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

First of all, I have been lurking around on the forum for years now, learning a lot and getting some great ideas, so thank you all for that. I just realized that was my first post and was in a rush before when I posted, so let me give everyone some background.

I have been looking for a logging winch for my tractor pretty much since I found out that they existed. Everyone I have come across so far has either been too expensive or too far away. However today my luck changed, when I found this one about 40mins away. It is a smaller unit, which is fine for me, as I only cut firewood for myself and burn ~6 cords a year. I use my ford 1620 tractor now to drag logs out of the woods, but there is some nice locust located down a steep hill on the back of my property and some in a swamp where I rather not venture. I found this winch and it was close and the price was right so I brought it home with me. It is unlike any of the winches I have seen before and am hoping someone could help me figure out what brand it is, and where i could find a manual for it.

I previously said that it was made in the USA, but I no longer think that is the case. It looks like it was just a generic sticker someone put on it, and there are some instructions on the backside that are in a foreign language:

This winch does not have any ropes/pulleys to operate it like I have seen on most of the modern ones. Rather it has two levers, one seems to engage the winch and the other I believe is a brake. If anyone is familiar with this style and has some advice on operation, I would be happy to hear it.

Thanks,
Chris

"invalid attachment." I believe that you have to have a certain number of posts before you are allowed to post pictures.

Looking at it I can't help wondering if it was homemade, although the stickers you mention indicate otherwise.

If it is home made, they did a really good job. I think it had to come from a manufacturer, but I could be wrong.

I uploaded the picture again, not sure why it didn't work the first time.

The languages on the sticker are:

Italian
French
English
German

My guess is that the winch might be Italian made, since it's the first language on the list.

Balfor is the only Italian winch company I could come up wit, but this doesn't look like any of their units. Anyone else know of any Italian winch manufacturers?

Okay, so it is definitely made in Italy, found another sticker that says so. Upon closer inspection i also found the remnants of a model number:

I think it may say "VC34" but not sure. does that ring any bells for anyone?

Thanks,
Chris

I found one thread mentioning a VC 34 winch made by International Machinery Corporation, but I can't find anything further.

I have that same Winch, I inherited from my father, we used it quite a bit. Now it is skipping under load and need to repair replace the drive pinion shaft. Very handy to snatch logs in hard to get to places. I have been trying to find parts or manufacture for this with no luck. Th guy at the JD dealer (James River Equipment) said it was manufactures by International Machinery Corp that changed to IMCO and then WAC but can't find any info. If there is someone that would have a clue I would be more that grateful to explore that lead. Thanks for reading.

Here is what I got from Brad at the JD dealer:"Rick,

International Machinery Corporation, has been out of business for several years. They have also went by a couple of other names. WAC(World Agritech Corporation), also IMCO. They were based in Ohio. DNequipment.com has an employee who worked there for several years. I contacted him, and he never remembered them making winches. They were known to fabricate some equipment, and may have made just a few to see if they could stir up more interest.

That being said, it shows you are in Mount Airy. Bring the part by the store here, and I will see if I can come up with something. Otherwise, you will probably have to have a machine shop make it.

Thanks,
Brad"

I just purchased one of these myself. Can you tell me what the two levers are for I know one of them is for engaging the spool the other one is it a clutch?
