- Massey 5711D, Kubota L4600, Kubota B2601
Ended up getting a Massey 6711D pending final terms! A little more spendy but, WOW! What a tractor. Brake-N-Go and the cab suspension combined with the Dyna transmission should make this tractor a real joy to use for years to come. I was shopping in East Texas FWIW.
The newer loaders with the Hydroformed loader arms are pretty nice and provide better visibility than the more traditional options I looked at from the driver's seat. The "French" Massey 5S with its sloped hood was easily the best visibility of anything of this size I personally looked at but, with the precision agriculture features were simply too expensive for me to seriously consider.
I was looking for something for baling, rough brush hogging (rotary cutter action), cattle ops in Winter, and picking up or moving downed trees and limbs on various parts of my property after storm damage. Add some general utility stuff like a 150 Gallon Sprayer and Post Hole digger which would be better on a TYM Utility tractor which is likely in my future as well. The TYM T754 cabbed model is available in my area for ~$43.5K with its Deutz engine or one of the next frame size down with a cab and 57Hp for ~$36.5.
Turns out, the Massey I scored (details to be worked out and confirmed next week as the loader on that tractor was sold and was the one I wanted) was only ~$25K more than a Zetor P100 or a TYM 1104 so, long term resale potential, broader dealer/industry support, and a better cab and transmission won me over. The CNH option had too many local reports of issues (emissions or transmission related depending on paint color and specific model). JD with their proprietary software issues, high pricing, and dealership issues are a turn-off for me personally and I grew up on 'green' tractors. Kubota's larger tractors are simply too expensive for what they offer and are generally undersized for each class they sell in. I also have had negative issues with pricing and availability with Kubota Pre-COVID, during COVID, and recently with over 100Hp tractors.
Having TWO GOOD Massey dealers (out of 4) within a reasonable driving distance didn't hurt either. Zetor would have been single dealer support for me, and TYM larger tractors are in low availability locally. Even the TYM T574 models are hard to source. Dealer coverage in my area for them though is pretty broad but, one dealer was stunningly bad and clueless. Another dealer seemed pretty good but, getting anyone's attention for pricing, availability, etc. was a real challenge. Most of the dealerships are totally geared to the Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart lawn mower shoppers and most dealers are geared to serve that marked and the new "ranchette" owners who think they need a 12' batwing mower for 6 acres of pasture for their daughter's horse. The one I was working with sells TYM and LS tractors in the larger sizes and has 4 professional mechanics to support them. That dealer came close to earning my business with a TYM T754 but, they were totally sold out and when they would come back in stock was indeterminant.
Later, when I sell my open-station Kubota L-4600, I could see a cabbed TYM T574 or T754 finding its way to me. An LS MT7 option was mentioned by several dealers but, non-were in stock for me to see.
