Officer discretion is the term. It is used all the time. Federal law say you can't smoke dope. You can smoke dope in many states. Don't understand that one either.

When did the coroner come into existence? As compared to sheriff. I done been through a drug task force set up by Clinton. Sheriff was exposing it. Saw him get arrested. Coroner wouldn't touch it. They used state troopers. Sheriff is also a preacher. Still alive and well. No time in jail, kept serving as sheriff. There's folks around here that ain't flushed their commodes in 30 years because bill Clinton peed in it once.
It's an outdated law. At the end of the day are laws made to serve us; or are we here to serve the laws? Yet there are people in prison for growing and/or selling it.
I've made it 53 years and never had a puff.
That's your choice, and I will be the first to support it. I've been 43 years, that was also my choice. Others enjoy a puff or two however, and as long as it doesn't affect me that is their choice.
You said the sheriff is the highest elected official in each county. I was merely pointing out that is not correct.
So when I'm on a job with a crane swinging a load of pipe over me and the crane operator is a dope head. I have had many log trucks full of logs picked up by crane. Whole load at once.
