Eh depends on who’s definition of looks fine you go by. Once upon a time in the younger years I used to severely overload trucks. My 2010 f150 with a little over 18k in scrap loaded didn’t tow bad at all surprisingly. Had a 7.3idi long block ,6.9idi short block ,3 Dana 60s in the bed alone. Now having my CDL A and realizing how many things can but shouldn’t go down the road. I like to be over truck and trailered if I can for my tasks. Most of the time I haul around 22k worth of trailer and equipment. The skid with the grapple and the bucket is a little over 14,600.

I used to have a somewhat similar Bri-Mar. I bought the Bri-Mar used in 2008 for 7200 and sold it around 2012 for 7000, so yes, you did well. I had thought about ramps but never got around to it. Due to the length, you might want to have some support under the center and maybe a means to tie the ramps together to further stabilize them.

That’s a sweet setup. Eventually I’ll find a F550-F750 of my liking. I want the shortest wheel base I can find. It’s just a tow rig for me mainly. I have tons of under space on my flatbed trailer to add storage for work tools.

Well I got lucky ish. My cousins husband and I were talking over Easter feast. I was ready to pull the trigger on a new tandem 10k axle gooseneck dump. He says I got one. Has anyone had one of these older big Tex trailers ? It’s got tandem dual 10ks 8x16 ‘ box. Added a tarp and doing new brakes in the rear then putting it into service. Anyone built custom ramps for a setup like this ?
Nice trailer, might be cheaper and easier to to buy a et of ramps. aluminum so you can move them, probably 8’+ to get a decent load angle for the skid steer.

In some cases you can also tilt the dump trailer slightly to reduce break over angle.

The only thing about extremely short wheelbase truck is the ride is brutal, especially when empty. I have a somewhat short wheelbase truck and the ride can be punishing.

I have a 12’ flatbed cab and chassis I tow with currently. The GN ball is actually about 1’ behind the center of rear axle. Still well between the rear spring mounts and hangers. It rides really nice it’s only 2wd but I have to be cautious at some sites. But dually trucks odly do well off road.

Very true, however with an electric power-up/down pump you already have limited cycling. Why add to the load?

I have two batteries in both my dumps, I can dump all day long. A few seconds up and down should be no problem even with one battery. If it is, then upgrade to a bigger/better battery. Thats what dump trailers do, they go up and down:D

They do? All mine have gotten worse traction wise than SRW.
They definitely are more stable.

I guess I’m thinking I only load/unload 1-2 times per day and a slight tilt of the trailer is only a few seconds, so no biggie on battery drain, right?
