Of course they will. Also couldn't be better when they do, but JD is the first of many that must be broken of this culture.
Does any other color restrict the owner’s right to repair?

What irritates me is none of the tractor manufacturers (Kubota included), on their T4 final, ECM controlled, high pressure common rail engines, their interface to the ECM (and that includes John Deere) is 100% proprietary. In other words, the only way you can access the ECM is by using their unique to them interface cables and no OBD scanner can read the error codes anyway, unlike the automotive where everything is standardized.

Most assuredly, read my comment. Why I prefer my T3 tractors with their mechanical injection and no ECM,

I’ve gotten to the point with anything mechanical, I do service and maintenance, and leave repairs to mechanics. I used to replace clutches, water pumps, brakes, and do tune ups and overhaul carburetors. Now I just change spark plugs, filters, and do fluid changes. I’m happy to let mechanics do the rest. I have too many other things to do, so wrenching is low on my priorities. But I’ve found with newer vehicles and tractors, I seldom need actual repairs. Maybe I’ve gotten lazier as I’ve aged? I know I’m busier.

Yep, the one thing the EPA should have done and hasn't with all the other garbage they have forced down peoples throats is require all manufactures to use a common communication protocol for any and all emission related communications.

Yes, Deere settled out of court for a useless agreement to avoid going to court and getting a more restrictive to them more open for the consumer settlement.

What 5030 said was my point. It’s not like cars and light trucks where they have to put in the standard OBDII port, it’s almost always unique to each brand. You can say JD just signed an “agreement” or what ever you want to call it. It’s meaningless to a lot of people because they aren’t going to invest in the equipment to read codes and work on the electronics of a high tech piece of equipment like a combine.

You can still get parts, fluids, filters etc for your JD, always could and always were going to be able. The way I understood it the software and electronics were what they said they controlled.

No.

They signed a "Memorem of Understanding".

That's it.

Not legally binding on them in any way. JD could change their minds (on the memorem) any time the whim takes them. The problem most certainly has not "gone away".

It's only "pointless" if you have blinders on.

They're just being patient; in a decade, when we think we've won, they'll fist us.

Kubota is the same way with their new round balers. I cannot access the parameters myself, have to have a regional rep come out with a password to get into the computers. It's a good bailer but I find that BS. Had an issue with the net tail not being long enough and my local dealer could not do anything with it. He had to have the regional rep come out and set it. Like 5 different settings but the owner cannot access any of them and that is BS.
