I hope you're exaggerating. I have rewired three trailers in the last 14 years, and all three are still working exactly as they had on day one.

For full disclosure, I did replace one tail light assembly on one of the boat trailers after several years and several hundred launches. A few of the 20-odd LED's in that assembly stopped working after enough dunks in the lake and bay, but the wiring is rock-solid.
no I am not ... and the last time I made sure all the wires was well secure in split tube, taped it up and put in cables clamps and tuck everything out of the way and the first ride it got knock out...

Wow... dunno what to say about that! My landscape trailer has all wiring inside the frame, totally protected, as does my smaller boat trailer (1960's Elgin). My larger boat trailer (1980's Wesco) has exposed wiring, hung inside the C-channel frame with those hammer-on metal clips, but it's held fine since I did it ca.2008.

What do you think went wrong with yours? Usually, the only trouble I ever see with trailer wiring is corrosion at the connection points, on trailers left outdoors, or UV breakdown of the wiring insulation if they're left in the sun. Both of those failures take years, not days!

Geez, is there anyone you cannot try to troll?

Rocks hit it and the way the lights are I would've had to drill holes through the frame to get to the lights in order for the wires to be totally protected. But I didn't do it so I had to go around the frame exposing the wires.

If you have open C-channel, then these clips are about the best thing I've found for hanging wiring in a semi-protected way. Never as good as full tube frame, but better than having it above or below the frame rail, as you can "hang" the wire from these clips inside the half-protected c-channel:

Rocks are something I hadn't really thought of, if you're towing on a gravel or dirt road. All of my high speed or long distance towing is on asphalt, really only the landscape trailer ever goes off road, and even then it's low speed thru a field to pick up logs.

Another wire protection option for open frame trailers is to secure electrical tubing aka EMT to the frame for the long runs.

I've seen some old trailers with metal conduit welded in to the open side of a c-channel frame, or under a railing on landscape trailers. Probably not EMT, which is usually zinc plated and will flake most paint, but some plain steel tube.

I find it hard to believe any state would not require trailer lights all the time, day or night, no matter if you can see the truck lights or not.

I haven’t looked up any state laws but the vast majority of wood splitters don’t have taillights. I doubt virtually every manufacturer would sell something that clearly breaks the law if they were required.

I’m not sure I would call a log splitter a trailer but I get your point. I’m talking a trailer of any size, even single axle.

The home owner wood splitters I see aren't rated for highway use.

Most of them aren’t rated to pull on an actual highway because the tires are usually 45mph rated but they’re made to be pulled at least home from the store.

The sole purpose of taillights is to make the vehicle visible, and show your intent to turn or stop. As long as it's daylight, the trailer is easily seen and the tow vehicle taillights are obvious I don't give two shakes whether it has trailer lights, working or not. When the trailer obscures the tow vehicle, they need to be working.

I get more frustrated at the number of people who don't know how to use their signal lights. It's a matter of basic courtesy to alert your fellow motorists when you are turning or stopping

I used to know what that was. Been so long since I have seen I don't think I would recognise it.

Teaching first daughter to drive: "Kid you're not nearly old enough to leave your turn signal on for miles and miles!" :p

At that point you need "blue hair" and should be peering out through the steering wheel :😀

Ha! When I taught my daughter to drive, we were out on a run and a guy approaching put his blinker on. I asked her do you know what that really means? And she knew I was thinking other than turning... "Well he could be pulling over, could have forgot it on, might be planning to turn but still may not, etc..." And I said "the only thing it truly means is that his blinker works. You have no idea if it means anything else." Truth.

Not upping you but this but these are the one I used, I would think they are better since its rubber to rubber and not steal to rubber but I used metal screw to secure them and lots of them snap off after some time I would think they where too tight and the vibration cause them to snap.
