Boxed frames are suspect for perforation in the rust belt imo.

My 2002 F150 has never been stored indoors and I've probably only washed half a dozen times in the 18 years I've owned it. The paint is gone and there's a little body rust but the frame seems solid. I did replace a rusted brake line.

Find one on autotrader outside of rust belt. Buy a plane ticket and pick it up.

It is kind of funny how he wants a rust free truck to go ruin it with a salt rig.

Yeah….if I was stupid with the salt spreader it might ruin it, but if I was smart with the spreader, like I was with previous trucks, it won’t get ruined.

There isn’t a speck of rust on my previous “salt rig”, and there won’t be on my next one because I‘m smart and know what I’m doing.

That's impressive after salting and plowing you must at least rinse them off pretty good?

Thanks. :)

Yes, that’s really all it takes. Despite what trolls might think, you can keep a salt truck looking great. Simply wash the truck off, topside and especially the frame, axles, brakes, springs, everything before you put it away. I will also apply fluid film or wool wax by a sprayer.

Of course that’s something most people avoid doing during freezing weather.
