Anyone have a 3/4” or 1” cordless impact and if so, do you like the one you have?
I’d like to retire my big air gun for a cordless to join my 1/2” cordless.

I have the Milwaukee 3/4 Fuel impact and really like it, but I only have it because everything else that I own that's battery powered is Milwaukee, I believe most any of the name brands could serve you well, meaning whatever battery powered tools and battery's that you already own, Milwaukee set the bar years ago with the Fuel brushless technology but the other name brands have caught up and are as good or better these days.

Saw DeWalt had a 3/4, but I have heard quite a few complain that the “pistol grip” style guns get tiresome to handle when they get heavy. They prefer a D handle or hanging handle type when they get bigger. Only Milwaukee has them that I have seen so far.
My 1/2” DeWalt feels fine, but I have reached its’ limit and my 3/4” & 1” sockets are looking for more work.

Friend has the 1” Milwaukee on his service truck. No air tools now. It is a beast.

I'm pretty sure I'd need help holding that thing. My aged grip and wrists have trouble with my 1/2" DeWalt. It only comes out on special occasions now. Bought another 1/4" hex driver in the stubby format. That thing rocks! Three speed variable too.

Anyway, I like talking tools. 🤣

Have a brushless Makita 3/4 unit that has served me well. Nothing encountered yet that couldn't break loose. Already owned several Makita products and batteries so seemed the right way to go

DeWalt torque wrenches are known to be bucking broncos, if it's a real issue, you might want to invest in a smoother brand, that means pretty much any other brand lol

DeWalt wrenches are kinda like a Harley, more vibration and sound with no gain in output

One thing I will say about Milwaukee is that their customer service has been excellent, as I have only had 2 problems in about 15 years and both times they paid the shipping both ways and within 10 days had my tool repaired/replaced at no charge. Lastly I also wouldn't take my 3/4 or 1" pull handle and pipe cheater bar off the truck as there are things a battery powered impact won't break loose.

That's because they have larger anvils and produce higher torque. Beats the $900+ Mularkey. Besides, I already had the batteries. Hands down, better there too. ;)

I'm not wrapping gifts with it. Vibration is secondary.

Back about 2005, I bought the old style set of Milwaukee cordless power tools. The V28 series they were called. Heavily built and also just plain heavy. Twice the heft of the modern Fuel series. They were beasts for torque compared to the modern Fuels. They were discontinued about 10 years ago, but all of mine are still going strong, and the batteries are still fine. I use them often. The Impact is a real brute.

But not I'm 20 years older and beginning to replace everything with the newer lighter weight 12 & 18 volt Milwaukees.

I have a Harbor Freight Earthquake 3/4". It did OK for a few things I needed it for.

Since then they have a Hercules 3/4" model which is rated as slightly more powerful. I have several Hercules tools, and probably would choose that one instead.

I don't tend to do a lot of large impacting.

The facts don't support the higher (measured) torque argument, all brands marketing lies about it, but I fully understand the battery issue, I'm tied into a lesser brand myself. Started 25+ years ago when that's what I could afford and just stuck with it.

Dewalt is definitely the upper tier though, good tools, just not the be all, end all in everything.

Would like to avoid another group of cordless tools, chargers & batteries.

Can’t understand why Milwaukee is the only one of the large, well known brands to offer a big 3/4“-1” impact, though.

I have the 18V Brushless MAKITA 3/4" Impact Wrench for two main reasons:

1. I have other Makita tools so plenty of batteries and chargers.

2. The Makita is (was at the time) the only one with an anti-vibe rubberised mount between the handle and the battery connection.
Apparently that protects the electronics in the handle from vibration shock.
If you rock/twist the battery you can observe the movement possible.

Nothing has defeated it yet in my work.
It has the C-ring on the nose of the anvil to hold sockets 'on' and has a hole for the optional safety pin which is secured with the rubber O-ring if you purchase one.

A colleague has the Hitachi/Hikoki 3/4" which seems OK too.

Unless you own something bigger, like a tractor or heavy equipment you don’t need a larger impact like 3/4 drive or 1” drive so the market is smaller. I own a 3/4 drive ratchet set in metric and english but don’t use it that often.

The biggest drawback on milwaukee is the battery gets loose with time where it slides onto the impact and sometimes it wouldn't connect. Always happens when you are in a awkward position to. Aside from that we love our milwaukee tools.

Would you consider something entirely different?

I was so impressed with the 3/4-inch Stanley hydraulic impact that came with my crane that I bought a used 1-inch version on eBay.

Normally I use my Milwaukee 1/2 inchers, and love them, but when up to 2,500 ft.lbs. is needed the hydraulic ones sure do the job.

I have a Milwaukee V28 kit with 2 batteries in a canvas tote bag high up in my shop shelving unit. Ihave not used it since i got the dewalt 20V units. That V28 can wear you out quickly. Very heavy unit.

plus the dang batteries are now over $180 each.
