What do you drive for a truck?

We have a few trucks, 2 F450s ..One is a regular cab 4x4 V10 Dump truck and the other is a 2020 Limited Diesel that I use to pull the 5th wheel ..and pretty much anything else that’s heavy. Also have a 99 F150 4x4 with 190k on it, that’s the dirty truck.. dog gets in and out of it, I get in it dirty.. don’t worry too much about it getting messy. I had a couple F150s 17 and 19 that I recently parted with and picked up a 2023 Tundra limited 4x4 to use as a in and out of the city work truck. Only have about 1800 miles on it now.. first jap truck I have had since about 1988 when I had a Tacoma.
That truck will get miles put on it. First impressions… comparing it to the F50.. It feels lighter with stiffer suspension.. where the F150 felt heavy and spongy in the suspension area. ..It’s tight.. no real slop in the steering like I think the Ford has a little of. Seats are firm.. Ford seats are softer.. not really certain which I like better. Interior is smaller than the Ford and the Ford controls are easier and better laid out. Infotainment connect is not as smooth as the ford sync but the screen is huge on the Tundra and I like it better. Last Ford f150 had the 3.5 Ecoboost that was a great motor with tons of power.. the new tundra has a 6 cyl turbo that’s fairly tame and nothing inspiring.. but gets 18.5 mpg so far and just does what it should.

A 2007 F150 super cab 4x4 with the infamous 5.4L 3-valve motor. I’ve had it since it was new, it has holes now from the annual Michigan salt baths, but it keeps going with a little bit of tlc every so often. It tows the boat and other trailers, hauls most everything I need to, and gets me to work and back. I’m on the hunt for its replacement, repairs are getting too frequent lately.

We have a 2020 3500 Silverado that is usually hooked up to our food vending trailer and up until two weeks ago a 2021 Jeep Gladiator, traded that in for a 2021 Silverado 1500.

We could probably get by with one vehicle, but then we would have to unhook the vending trailer every time when we are not using it

Pinsgauer?
Yup, a Pinzgauer 710m, I think. Payload is 1000kg, aka 1.1tons. The clearance on them is amazing. Steyr-Puch made them, and they also made/make the GL55s for Mercedes. They also come in a 6x6 version, the 712m, both with triple locking differentials. The engine is an air cooled 2.5L. High speed travel is not really its forte. Getting there is.

All made in a tiny little factory in Graz, Austria.

I've only seen one in motion once, cruising uphill in a snow storm that had shut the roads to everyone else. Funnily enough, it was being followed by a tricked out Saab 900 that looked like it was set up for rally use.

All the best,

Peter

2020 ram 2500 6.4 4WD 8 ft bed reg cab. I use it when I need a truck. Mostly firewood related things. I have a crappy vw diesel that I use as a daily driver normally to save money on fuel.

Its because the vast majority dont like light interiors, they dont age well and show dirt too easily. But looks are subjective of course.

Well, I've never taken a poll as to what color interior people like...but I notice that all the high-end vehicles...Lexus, Lincoln and others - have interiors that are so light as to be almost white. Makes the vehicle look much roomier, airier.

Out here in the desert the light interiors age MUCH better than black interiors...that Nevada sun will cause black colored plastic/leather to dry out and crack in a short time. Not to mention that it gets so hot you can't touch it. And desert dust shows up in high contrast on a black interior.

My Jeep Rubicon has a black interior - only color available. So does my Toyota 4Runner. If I could change that black color to a light desert tan I'd do it in a minute!

Can’t you turn off the GM AFM?

I had that on my Tahoe and the motor went 210,000 without a rebuild. Just needed a timing gear. I threw an oil pump in it while it there because it was cheap & easy.
You can. Our electronics shop does it for employees. Not sure how much is involved but they just did my buddies chevy 1/2 ton last year. He runs on all 8 now all the time.

I'm sure just like anything with govt, legal or not......

2020 Ram 2500 with the 6.4 gas engine and 4.10 axle ratio for towing and hauling. I really like the truck and it gets decent MPG running empty too.

Total weight for the below load is 16440 pounds.
