What about all the other 10’s of thousands of vehicles started at 25 below in that same area. Are you saying only the Toyota started and survives that regiment, and all other vehicle brands were pampered or needed repairs?
I’m not sure your single vehicle, anecdotal story proves anything

Every vehicle I've ever owned has started right up, even on the coldest days; if that were such a feat, well, either everything in cold climates would shut down come winter, or we'd all be driving Toyota's. Neither is the case, because modern vehicles are all pretty reliable- for the most part.

I don’t have any proof of this and it goes for all automakers, not just Toyota, when they have a major issue, they usually know what is causing it. They often don’t tell you the real cause. They have a recall that is intentionally vague like “debris in engine”.

After reading about many examples of this problem on 2022 Tundras, it seems the going rate for the repair is about $30k....wow.

And I thought Tesla motors were expensive.

That's a ridiculous, and painful, bite to swallow.

$30k?!

The cost of things is really disheartening.

I'd be livid if they shortblocked my brand new insanely expensive truck. Toyota better step up with a completely new engine. Im not going to jump on the hating on the turbo though as this does not appear to have anything to do with that, plus I jumped on the twin turbo train years ago and have never looked back. Toyota will get theirs figured out Im sure. I hate Toyota trucks (except the older Tacos) because I think they just look terrible and are wildly over rated but they still build good vehicles.

Here is an interesting video about 2024 models needing engines.

What was supposed to be so great about those old '80s tacomas anyway? Woefully underpowered, and you could almost stand and watch the bed and front fenders rust away. I do recall them being popular with the mud kiddies for a while.

"What was supposed to be so great about those old '80s tacomas anyway" Oaktree

no such thing as 80's tacomas, that model wasn't released till '94 or so. while the earlier 4cyl may be "woefully weak" by today's stds, the 22re 4cyl engine ('82-'94) was probably Toyota's most rock solid reliable engine built to date.

the current full size models may be more powerful & comfortable, but look how fraught with problems as evidenced by this thread

rust? it's a matter where you live & owner's overall care. had my '92 Toyota undercoated right out of showroom...not a sign of rust, original engine @ 324k still running strong. regards,
