I'm actually surprised you haven't lost that fiber panel yet.

I've removed that panel off from every f150 we've had for managers and sales vehicles at the shop. From the lowly salesman up to our district managers truck.

Road debris (usually a chunk of tire) or a stick from a jobsite will catch it, crack it at some of the mounting bolts, then it will start hanging down and flopping. I'll remove them before they become a projectile.

I've always thought it was a poor design going to those panels instead of sticking with the steel skid plates on the 4x4's.

After doing the regional managers truck, our corporate fleet manager issued a service bulletin to remove them from any and all F150's company wide.
Mine is a 4x4. Fiber panel.

My off-roading has been limited to driving across grass, hayfield, pasture with manure from cattle. The kind of thing I'd rather not drive the pretty AWD Tesla through. Scratch the front bumper on tall grass...

That is because your time is worth nothing.

Considering as how your time is worth nothing, don't complain when an EV has to stop for 15 minutes every 150 miles on long road trips.
You spend hours per day on a talk forum babbling, believing you know more than anyone else.
Then tell me my time is worth nothing because I save a ton of money doing nearly all my own car/truck maintenance and repairs.
What an idiot .

Most of these guys in the f150's see a gravel road as the extent of their off road experience.

I actually get into some extreme off road with my F550 service truck

What wiped out most of the ones I removed were a chunk of semi truck tire on the interstate. They weren't able to avoid it and it got kicked into that fiber plate.

I can't crawl underneath a vehicle anymore. I pay $80 for full service, tire rotation, wash exterior & detail the interior at the Cadillac dealership for the XT6. Plus free drinks and snacks. It is an 80-mile round trip to Tyler, so I just combine it with a shopping trip. If I want, they will let us have a loaner instead of waiting for it. And when I need it, they will do my Yukon and 3500HD for a bit more as they take more oil.

Some people like me work on equipment all day long. The last thing I want to do is go through the hassle of doing an oil change on my truck.

One thing they didn't figure in when doing an oil change on an ice vehicle.

My truck has a metal skid plate that needs to be dropped out of the way in order to do the oil change.

Another thing not figured into ice vehicle maintenance. My wife's car has free oil changes for 3 years from date of purchase.

So that actually drops the maintenance cost for the first 3 years down to almost zero. Granted that's not figuring in wiper blade replacement or topping up the windshield washer fluid between trips for service.
Yep.....I got 3 years free oil changes on the Jeep, and tire rotation and warranty etc , and after the three years I will do changes myself with all the same tools I use for tractor and UTV .......wipers and windshield washer moot , because needed for all cars. So looks like these days with low maintenance needs on ICE those costs are basically equal. ......but WOW !!! on the depreciation on EVs , and insurance costs higher many jurisdictions.......hmmm

What a silly statement.......but now we know from the horses mouth 15 minutes every 150 miles.......heck that would of added another hotel overnight cost each way on trip to Florida......hmmmm

I don't get free oil changes... But I do pay 50% less for the car because it's used. So, it's a wash

Oh. I forgot... One might get dirty too. 😂
You should have seen the mess when we changed the ATF and Filter on the grand kids auto trans, didn't help the pan slipped even after tilting the pan draining and still having a couple bolts left in when that last bolt was pulled the pan slipped and about half ended up on the garage floor.

Kitty litter sure can be handy for things other than what a cat uses it for.

Amazingly the diff fluid changes we barely spilled any new or used 90 wt.

My gripe with EV's is that I pay $.30 a gallon for road use tax, EV's don't pay any road use. A survey done in June of 2024 46% of EV owners say that they will switch back to ICE because of the poor availability of chargers.
