Just hopped off the phone with one of my oldest friends, who is German and works for Audi/VW in Bavaria (Germany), and their subsidiary Ducati in Verona (Italy). He's in accounting, fraud prevention and auditing.Other news makes it sound like Volkswagen is on the ropes as well. It sounds like all the major names in Germany autos are more or less pulling out of China because of their steep losses, which was their main profit center for decades.
He didn't mention anything about VW being on the ropes, but he did mention they bought Navistar International, which was formed out of International Harvester. The reason it came up is that Navistar owned Scout Motors, and so now the new Scout SUV and truck are under the VW group, adding to their net EV offerings.
