And a butt of advice for anyone listening...a prostate exam is much easier with a woman practitioner...or so I have been told

As it was explained to me, both the PSA test and the gloved finger test are not both completely accurate. My doctor recommended both first. The finger test was if he could feel any abnormalities, and the PSA test checked for prostate-specific antigen. Once they do a PSA test, that sets a baseline for your current condition. From then on, they monitor the PSA levels annually (for me, at least) and watch for any increase in the level.

Got through "CyberKnife" radiation treatment (precision targeted radiation) with all the plumbing working and no side effects.

January 13th, 2023 I rang the bell while leaving radiation, signifying my fifth and final prostate cancer treatment. It made my wife tear up, (and maybe me too...just a little - when everybody working on the floor started clapping).

That was a month shy of 2 years ago, and my most recent PSA was .03. One more blessing from God to add to my personal Book of Psalms!

My Doctor of 20+ years started doing the digital prostate check yearly when I was about 50 years old (I'm 76 presently). I've had a mildly enlarged prostate through the years and he also had a PSA check done along with the finger poke. My Doctor retired in 2022 and his practice went to two female Nurse Practitioners who I've found to be very good. The NP I routinely see for checkups is in her mid 30's. I had asked her about the digital prostate check since I had been having it done yearly with the previous doc. She said the finger poke is less used now and more reliance is put on the PSA numbers which she has done yearly. Wasn't sure if the finger poke was just a procedure she didn't want to do, but a few Google searches on the subject seem to back this up, although there are a few scattered opinions that there is some merit to the finger poke check in conjunction with the PSA.
Saw Palmetto and Pygeum taken daily seems to help the BPH symptoms.

I believe all dermatologist are women. I've met a male dermatologist.
Anyway, I had this rash I just couldn't shake. Made the appointment and I really didn't want to drop everything right there in front of them both (doc, and assistant) but I was at wits end, and this rash was driving me NUTS (in more ways than one). So I just had to suck it up and do it, and I'm glad I did, she gave me some cream I didn't have access to and in two weeks, the rash was all cleared and hasn't returned in a year !

2 home remedies that worked.
I had the all usual enlarged prostrate problems. My friend had some laser surgery for the same...Lots of pain and complications. Yuk.
At 70 yrs I finally started taking a Saw Palmetto supplement that over time has worked. Been a year on this this and I can sleep through the night and pee a strong solid stream again. Getting old has it's challenges.
