Prime shipping has been averaging 5 days since the COVID insanity.
Wow, that's terrible. Much better here. I see more and more items with available "early AM Tomorrow" delivery options, like order at 10pm and it's on your doorstep at 5am, but they often want $2.99 for that service. The free shipping items included with Prime are never more than 2 days here, and an increasing number of items (35%?) are now 1-day.

There are some third-party seller items marked "Free shipping to Prime members", with huge margins on their shipping time, like up to 10 days in some cases. But those are more the exception.

You must get Amazon deliveries, just USPS for us hillbillies. Amazon does drop it at the local post office in Cuba so it does avoid the 5-30 day delay in KC.

Not my experience. Amazon has been improving and improving for me. Now getting a bunch of stuff next day, which was unheard of 5 years ago. I live about an hour outside a major metro area and never before were we close enough for that fast of delivery.

Same here. I'm an hour north of center city Philadelphia, and really only 20 minutes north of the northern sprawl of dense 'burbs. The main shipping center for much of the greater area is maybe only 40 minutes north of me, and those trucks almost have to pass my house on their way south to the more densely-packed northern suburbs of Philadelphia.

One reason we get Amazon deliveries (which used to be quick) in a week or so these days is that the 2-day shipping applies only to the actual shipping.

When it takes Amazon several days to get around to shipping an order, well, it's still 2-day shipping, but takes over a week to receive.

Are you ordering Prime-eligible items or sold/shipped from 3rd parties? What you describe is very rare in my experience. But I mostly choose things that are listed as 'Prime'.

That is the one thing I ALWAYS do is check the box for Prime items. Have been bite by picking 3rd party sellers to many times. Last item I bought from a 3rd party took a month to get here, just glad it was not something I needed or wanted quickly, within reason that is. I have ordered from overseas and gotten things more quickly.

That's my experience at home where the Amazon trucks are dispatched out of a warehouse near Sacramento airport. Lots of stuff arrives next day. Things that must have been stored elsewhere in the Amazon system, generally 1-2 days additional.

Ranch, same experience as Eagle1. Amazon delivers everything to the local post office for USPS delivery next day.
