I see at least 4 paddels in that photo. Not great control for the size, but something. Plenty of people float down a river with nothing but their appendages. I wouldnt take that down most rivers, but wouldn't be scared about a lake.

Yeah but ...

I bet they start paddling like mad when they see this - or larger! - coming up the channel toward them.
Add windy and choppy, and the current, and it could get real exciting.
