We had a deadly tornado strike south of us in London and Somerset Ky. I hope and pray for all those involved. Hopefully none of our members were in that area.

I have a friend that lives between somerset and London. Just texted them and all is fine at their place. The are at a higher altitude, maybe that helped them.

The death toll in KY is now up to 21, mostly in Laurel County in south KY. My partner's tenant lost his mother in this large long track tornado. KY is rapidly becoming part of a new "tornado alley" vs the midwest.

The administration seems to want to cut the National Weather Service (NWS) to the bone - doesn't make any sense to me. Leave them alone - we need them. The "talking heads" at the TV stations are often getting their feeds and early insights from the "forecast discussion" section of the NWS. I am in central KY and buttoned up everything last night before this storm...simply because I had been reading the NWS "forecast discussion" and could see how concerned the NWS forecaster was about this event.

One of my sons co workers took his family to the neighbors basement. The storm almost leveled the neighbors house but his was untouched. Thankfully they were all unhurt but shaken up.

We had a tornado here in Juneau WI and it destroyed a dairy farm. The second half of this video shows them walking the herd to a neighboring farm:

We had some pretty severe scattered storms here in northern Indiana Friday night, lots of really high winds and rain. About 8:00PM my power went out, waited a couple of hours and it didn't come back on, so I figured it would be out for a while. Got up at 8:00AM Saturday morning and still no power, was concerned about food in the fridge and freezer thawing out, so I pulled the generator out and hooked it up to the house. Everything powered up fine, it's a Yanmar 22 hp engine and a 10KW generator, so plenty of power for the house.
I called my neighbor lady, an 82 year old widower and told her I would bring my spare generator, a BlackMax 7KW unit, over and get her freezers and fridge plugged in.
A utility truck finally showed up at 2:00PM and replaced the blown fuse on the pole just south of my house, and we had power back. I was surprised they got to us as soon as they did, considering all the outages in the area. Powered everything down and put it back in the shop, ready for the next time.
Interesting thing is that the neighbors right behind me never lost power. I am on a branch that only serves eight houses, the rest of the houses north of them are on lines from another power company.
