Recently sent all four tires for my Challenger back to Tire Rack. They were also from '23.

I need to either find fresh tires or not drive it until I do. I strongly suspect it won't get driven until spring the way things are going.
?????????????????????
What?
Nothing wrong with 2 year old tires unless high milage or ruined by bad alignment etc.
My 2006 Ford GT Petunia is sitting on 7year old rubber and I've had her up to 170mph.
I doubt your Challenger goes faster than that.

I have a 70yo car with the factory spare, WWW bias ply Goodyear that's become hard plastic, still holds air. I have Grandad's small trailer he made from a '32 Chevy straight axle that has red rubber inner tubes.
I recently replaced tires on an 2011 Mustang, 12K miles the original Michelins looked ok and passed inspection but tires pretty dry rotted. "Maypop" tires we used to call them.

The tires on my Corvette age out before the wear out. Old tires (and they don't have to be that old) get hard and don't perform well. If I bought tire for my Corvette and the new tires were already two years old, I'd refuse them also.

Rejecting 2 year old tires seems extreme to me, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and everyone has different circumstances. Certainly if I was buying 60,000 mile tires and putting them on a car I only drove 2000 miles per year I would want them as fresh as possible.

Sumitomo (just an example, although specific) warrants the tires in question for 45K miles or 60 months (from DOM), whichever comes first. In this case, even the single 245/40R17 tire manufactured during the second week of January (0225, last 4 of DOT code) is >6 months old; no real issues and I decided to keep this one. The rest of the tires have date codes of 2823, 4523 and 1923 and I decided to get them replaced.

Car manufacturers such as BMW recommend discontinuing usage of tires irrespective of remaining tread life after 6 years.

Separately, there are varying opinions on the WWW about such issues including sensationalized (to a bit) recommendations and responses. Of course, folks are free to make their own decisions :).

I swap from summer to winter tires on my wife and my vehicle with both of us in the low mileage category all of our tires will/would age out by these "new" standards well before wearing out. I change them out when they get wore out or start stone bruising and getting flats.

I bought a 20KW Cummins standby generator/transfer switch for our NJ house. We have the exact same one (except for the cold weather package) at our VT house. The NJ one will run on Natural Gas rather than LPG. There was gas at the road, but no service to the house. The gas company is installing the service at a cost of over $4000 to them, no charge to us. They know that the only current usage will be a generator, although we will probably replace the oil furnace with a gas one in the not-too-distant future since it's about 20 years old.

My neighbor has a 1950s (6, 7, 8) i forget, Buick Road Master.
He brings it out every summer for a few rides around the hood. He trailors it to weddings and shows for pictures.
Last I saw it has under 3,000 miles. His uncle bought it new and he inherited it.
Still on original tires.
Only one loses a few lbs during the season.
Believe it or not.

No, there's nothing wrong with getting two year old tires, other than that I have to get new tires two years sooner than if I got tires that are actually new, not just new to me.

The ones I want to replace were installed in '18, so well overdue for a car that supposedly tops out at 199 mph. They still look perfect after some 5,000 miles, but I know damn well they're not.

And no, I've only had it up to 165. Today I'd hesitate to go 55 mph on them as I don't want to risk any collateral damage.
