While fishing in the Tongue of the Ocean north of Nassau, my dad and I came across a line of maybe 200 half-height refrigerators. Evidently the insulation makes them float.

Floating junk attracts schools of tasty dolphin, so we trolled those fridges for quite a while.

No sign of a vessel.

What was that I said, about looking in the rear view mirror, in a recent post?

I had a "taste" of that many years ago while working for an excavating company. We had finished up some work on the upper side of some ski slopes as winter came on. It had stormed, shutting off an access road so we had to walk two track machines down the side of a slope.

I was first on a 977. When I hit ice, I dropped the bucket. When I got things down to a dull roar, I turned to see my co-worker slide by me with a D6. He had the blade down but it was only slowing him.

Fortunately, we ran out of the ice. The event made for some good conversation.

The crew leader and I went to another job site to see when the dozer would come to our job. We were at the bottom of the hill near the dozer trailer.

Here comes the owner with the D4 high track, wide track. His tracks were full of frozen clay on a dirt road covered with packed snow and he came sliding down the hill. To his right the hill went up, but on his left there was a 30' foot drop off. He did a 360 and ended up fine at the bottom of the hill. Lucky.

Now he couldn't climb the ramps on the trailer. The three of us took turns with a pick removing the frozen clay. Then he brought the dozer to our job.
