The high spot is light! So on goes one of those sticky weights!
I use inexpensive clear shipping tape to attach used weights when balancing so as to easily move them around. Then replace with new weights with new double-sided tape they come with.

There was a time during COVID new weights were difficult to come by. Bought some double sided tape and reused weights for a while. The new tape wasn't as good as what Motion Pro used on new weights but apparently Good Enough™. Scraping old tape off was tedious.

Very nice stand. I'm jealous (y)
Thanks! It paid for itself in more ways than one. I could mount a tire any time, the night before a ride if necessary. But always on my schedule and not when a shop had an opening in their schedule.

I bought the best cheapie changer I could find as I'm not anticipating using it a whole lot. After using it to change and balance 2 tires it is financially a wash. Next time it is free changes. Plus the satisfaction of DIY

I was too cheap to buy a changer and suffer because of it. I wrestle with them on a carpet, on the floor. I recently installed a rear knobby right after a new front on my Sportster. Had sore knuckles for a few days. I'm going to look into a changer for next time.

The D606 rear tire was pretty stiff. I can't imagine getting it on without some type of machine to hold the rim. I just saw this gadget and I'm not gonna lie, it looks pretty cool. But it won't work with my changer unless I change to a shorter center bolt???

There is a knack to it. You want the bead opposite of where you are working (180° around the rim) to be in the drop-center of the rim. You can not stretch the tire over the rim, you have to figure out how to make the tire diameter fit over the rim diameter.

If you can get a helper to hold the tire in the drop center at 90° and 270° then the bead will come over the rim easily at 0°.

Mounting a tube type tire one should put the tube in the tire then spread the beads and insert the entire rim inside the tire between the beads. Then you have lots of space for your fingers to thread and secure the valve stem. Finally pry the bead on one side over the rim, flip and repeat. Remember, far side in the rim drop center. Often with good lube one can do this without levers, just body weight.

Don't try to lever the tire and tube over from just one side. That works well with tubeless, not tubed.

I recently bought a pair of motorcycle specific spoons on Amazon for about $10. They are night and day over my bigger square edge HF spoons which are okay for golf cart and mower tires.

This was me around 76-78 on my RD400. Poor photo quality but girlfriend was taking pic with a polaroid in a moving car.

So I see some interesting bikes at work. Some are student owned, some by faculty. I'll start posting some as I see them.
