Thanks to all for the pictures and advice. I think I'll build some sort of rolling cart to hang it from. I like the hanging idea a lot - being able to swing the boom up or down will be nice.

And I'll probably use the hang it from a tree idea when I just need it out of the way for the day.

Now that's a nice stand! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I'm printing it out to save for when I have a barn. The one mod I may make though is to make it higher so that I can use the hoist to hang the PHD from the center of the stand.

Here's mine. I built it with two used wood posts and a piece of scrap lumber and a piece of rope.

I believe I have that same PHD.

I made a stand for mine that I like, a search should turn it up, or I can grab another picture if needed.

Mine is three legs and the PHD hangs down on 2 chains. You back underneath and hook everything up, it is hanging there in the proper orientation to hook everything, then you lift it with the 3 pt and disconnect the chain hooks and drive off.

Someone on one of the last posts showed one made from the end of a kids swingset, I had thrown one out like the day before..... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I actually looked over the fence last week and saw my neighbor had one piled up in his backyard though as well.

Anyway, try searching on that post, or if needed I will go grab a photo.

Many of the things mentioned here do not work for us as my wife is a landscaper and the stuff we do needs to be able to be taken to the customers house and used. Switching between the box blade and the PHD is no fun at a customers without this stand.

If I always did it on my own property, I probably would not do the effort, but it is a tossup for us if we use the phd or the BB more.

Pats easy change is on the agenda for this year.

This is a picture of my stand made from 2-1/2x3/16 and 2x1/4 square tubing.

Handle stores inside lower square tubing.

2" top L shaped piece slides inside verticle 2-1/2 sq tube & sits on top of a bolt for height adjustment, leaving it loose to lift up with one hand or hydraulics, while inserting or removing a pin that attaches it to the post hole digger.

The trick is to install the pin tab (on the digger) almost balanced so it is will go down for storage and easy to lift with one hand to connect to the tractor. Attach to top link post first, then lift the lift links & place on post hold digger. Raise the digger with the hydraulics and inch or two, then easily remove the pin from the storage rack.

This also has storage for another auger.

Nice piece of work, NS: I didn't have my welder yet when I built mine with wood, but that's neat.

Last night I wrapped a chain around a tree limb & then hooked in a cheap cable comealong. Worked great!

Here is a picture of the PHD stand I built several years ago. It is on wheels and I just roll it up to the tractor and attach. Everything lines up to my tractor. By picking up the PHD, the stand rolls out from under. It is made out of 2x4s.

MadDog, that is the first PHD stand that I've seen that I like better than my tree limb. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Like Mike, I will probably build it a little taller so I can still use the chain hoist. I just love to have that thing hanging and swinging. I hope you don't mind if I steal your idea. Thanks a lot.
